The faded paint is more than likely just the top coat of paint oxidized. T-Cut may be able to treat this, not sure if it will sort out the scratches though.

Save yourself all that tedious rubbing and polishing, trade it in against a shiny new one.

Fixing it is probably more involved than you want to get into.

Or you could just pay some people like this crowd:

(I haven't used them but I hear they are good).

Here's the thing about scratches and oxidised paint: you can do it yourself but you'll need either a random orbital or a rotary polisher. The latter is what the pros use, but it's possible to burn your paint with it, so most amateurs go for the random orbital. Unfortunately, the random orbital of choice, the Porter-Cable 7424, is 110v and not available in Europe. You can import one and use it with a transformer, however.

Note that neither of these tools are the cr*p buffers you get at Halford's or Argos, which will in all likelihood make the scratches worse.

Also, scratch removal by hand can be done, but it is a ton of work. If a random orbital polisher is oscillating at 4000 oscillations per minute, think how long it will take your arm to do the same amount of work.

Finally, some scratch removal products, particularly compounds, are quite abrasive. You'll want to use caution with them.

A useful website for this sort of thing is:

http://www.autopia.org, particularly the reviews and the forums. The folks there are maniacal about car paint.

my car has numerous scratches. some tiny, some not so tiny. one annoying thing is that the previous owner obviously washed the car in cheap car washes and there is scrapes because of this.

what will a t-cut polish do for the car? i might polish it using t-cut and if the problem persists, ring carcraft

bring it to carcraft, they're good.
