....I can say that there isn't any politics between any "ninpo" group in Ireland. Everyone does their own thing quite amicabilly.

Actually, ninpo politics is alive and well in the emerald isle. For example, because of where I train in Japan, I am NOT allowed train in thirteen or fourteen dojo, in Ireland.

Well certainly not in Ireland Dave. None that I know of. But then that's not their focus or interest. I was just making a point that if you include weapons its still the MMA "philosophy" IMO.

    Hi CL,

So you do KM also? Cool.
Unfortunately I did not get a chance to go to Lee's seminar, but I'm quite familiar with his material (I picked up a few of his DVDs). Mick Coup had a seminar over here recently, which was really cool. You'd be more than welcome to pop along the next time he's over. I'd definitely recommend you go to a Senshido seminar if you get a chance. Rich has some very unique training methods and drills. Plus his pre-conflict concepts are really good (probably get shot down for mentioning the dreaded “ pre-conflict” )

Hah! As you said it might be great to get a bit of the Wado attitude on this forum:) .

    Cheers,

    B.

Glad you went down to Shane at MMA Ireland.

Fair play for you to be a lady down there training!

Its a great club and I enjoyed my brief time there. good training, and a respect for the traditions too!

yeah Senshido is good, I recommend the Shredder DVD, its great for ladies.
Also the pre conflict advoidence is great too. Rich is a good instructor and puts it across well, in a humours way!

Yeah I think the Shredder would be great for girls (prefer striking for myself). I thinks it's a great way to buy some time and then bugger off ASAP. One thing I like about Rich is that his stuff is very organic, and does not feel staged or contrived. Although, he can go off an tangents – but it's quite funny.:)

Thread is getting longer by the minute! :D

Hey you! We know how to treat a lady!

To be honest, Carol was more than welcome and I'm glad she enjoyed it. She got really stuck in - no reason not to really. I have to say, it's been a long time since I've seen someone with such a "can do... ...will do" attitude. Looking forward to doing lots more sessions together!

When you heading back to Ireland Gerry? If only for a visit?

See you for UFR on the weekend Carol. Give me a shout if you need anything.

    -Shane.

KM is cool and has alot to offer but I would train in a few different arts to gain not just more knowledge but also more perspective.

Train for the ground, try Straight Blast Gym - their coach John Kavanagh is great. Or wrestling.
Girls can train either so you'll be fine.

Train for stand up, try Muay Thai I recommend Bridgestone Muay Thai or try in Straight Blast Gym with Paddy Clint who is running Muay Thai classes with John Kavanagh.

Keep up your KM I dont do KM but it does offer some very practical advice and training methods, try Patrick Cumiskey. He's a nice chap and seems to be a decent coach from what I have heard I know one of his students.

Remember martial arts, traditional, progressive or reality based self defense are all addictive. ;)

With that said best of luck with your martial arts adventure.

    -Shane.

Probably be another year at least before I come back to Ireland for a visit.

I do not miss the weather nor the life style...or lack of life style more to the point! :p

That busy with business stuff, am just about able to squeeze an hour of Muay Thai in a day. but it is a good hour!
