The DeLorean owners mark the 25th birthday of the DeLorean Car over this weekend (25th - 28th)..

the event is nearly over - they are heading to the Antirm Coast (Dunluce/Portrush) @ 12

did anyone see any Deloreans over the weekend?

I just rewatched the Mint Productions BBC documentary on the Dunmurray plant yesterday.

The more you think about it, the more it becomes obvious that Delorean was 'set-up'.

Why did the FBI run an entrapment sting on someone with no previous criminality?

Delorean was desperate to raise capital for the factory at the time and was at the end of his rope by the time of the FBI sting. He probably would have sawed off his right arm to keep it going.

Remember that the Maggie and Ronnie show was in full swing and Thatcher wanted out of the investment that the previous Labour goverment committed to.

She couldn't pull the plug on the plant as it would have cost her a lot of political face.

yeah it also shows how desperate they were to have investment in the first to take on such a risky venture doomed to fail.
These days it arms manufacturers, supported by peace dividend fundeed of all things??

You could say exactly the same about Fruit of the Loom in Donegal and all the Irish taxpayers money that they were given.

But De Lorean did have quite a compelling business case initially, however no one could have predicted a recession hitting the US in the early 80's, interest rates there hitting 20% and the general decline in car sales.

a programme on the bbcni - had the story that the DeLorean factory was built on a field with a fairy tree. The fairy tree was knocked down and pulled out.. and a whole 3 years later, the factory closed.
