Unauthorised domain change question

Quick one; some ratbag has somehow managed (and I say somehow because as far as I know, the domain was locked to godaddy) to transfer a domain of mine away from godaddy, to their own registrant. I've emailed godaddy support within the 15 days specified on the email to point out that I didn't authorise any transfer.

Is it going to be a straightforward process of getting the domain back, whereon I can ring the guy that nicked it and tear him to strips? What could possibly go wrong? Will I actually be able to get the domain back? Why didn't godaddy email me to request my authorisation for the transfer? I'm hugely miffed. Ringing the guy to politely ask him to transfer the domain back isnt an option, theyre a crowd of malicious ****ers... Any answers to the above inquisitive rant would be highly appreciated.

Are you 100% sure that they didn't?

A common issue we see is people not spotting emails due to their email filters putting them somewhere odd or them accidentally deleting them.

eh maybe i'm looking at this too obviously but if the guy had access to your godaddy account to arrange the domain transfer he'd also be able to access your email in the same account via webmail could he simply have opened it clicked on the link and then deleted it without you knowing??

    whats the domain btw?

110% sure! I've checked and re-checked just to be sure. The first notice I have from godaddy is to say the transfer started. The next one was to say the transfer completed successfully.

miju, unless the guy actually works for godaddy (which I very much doubt), theres no way he had access to my account. I'd rather not name the domain at the moment... Lets just say I was going to hold onto the domain because the client didn't pay up. Now a new web dev company has come along and whipped the domain from me somehow. I couldn't give a rats ass about the money (all $7 of it), it's the principal of the thing!

Right.. it appears that the owner information was just vague enough for the guy to claim ownership of it and whip it out from under my nose. So, instead of being graceful in defeat I'll now redirect the domain to some hugely offensive porn website and begin a torrid google bombing campaign. I'll post the name shortly if anyone wants to help out with the googlebomb

How can you redirect if it you no longer control it? Surely he didn't leave the DNS the same?

Now that I've seen the mammy in question I get why it's goDaddy.
I'd still prefer to suck her wrinkled bits than a dead mans balls in fairness, but then I've obviously got higher standards than goDaddy.

The dirty little rat. Tbh if the admin contact details were a little hazy godaddy should really have gone down the "Can you send us a fax on company headed paper" or "Send a mail from the listed e-mail contact and we will update them correctly" route
