Found this on Bettystown beach yesterday - looks like its been in an accident, or it might as well be that the joyriders or owners themselves decided to discard it there after getting stuck in the sand, and trashed it to bits for fun.

Interesting thing is - the license plate is still on - 93-D-13098. Its a silver Hyundai something. See the pics.

    cheers,

    Pos.

starlet GT turbo? the owner, most likely a joyrider anyway, probably dumped it there to avoid the disposal costs and was too stoned to remember he/she had to remove the plates.

The government recently announced that disposing of cars would be Free to avoid illegal dumping! Not sure if its in effect yet.

Maybe it was a stunt by the Top Gear team similar to what they did with the old Toyota Hi-Lux. :D

    Don't worry, it wasn't their idea. :)

Like so much of the better thought out legislation in this country it is coming from the EU in the form of the "End of Life Vehicle (ELV) Directive". It also provides for recylcing targets.

I don't think it has been implemented yet, but it must be by 01/01/2007

    I think it's a MKII Rover 200.
Damage looks consistent with HGF :D

How did **** did it get there? I dont think a gang of vandals could have achieved that amount of damage? And the beach was uber busy yesterday.... the mystery continues.

Its in fact a Hyundai - or so it says on the grill.

Since there's a license plate on it, I wonder if authorities would trace the owners and (if they haven't reported it stolen) fine them for illegal dumping?!

Drogheda Leader has picked up the story, and has an article and some pics on page number 2.

Apparently, the car was reported stolen in Bettystown area three days ago, and a tractor was taken (hotwired) from a field in Drogheda . According the Drogheda Leader, not sure how they figured out the exacts, but anyway, when the car got stuck in the sand, the skangers drove the tractor all over it, and then tried to drive the tractor over the dunes to get to the golf course but dumped it when it got stuck as well… or something like that.

    feckin cnuts!
