Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I am wondering how one goes about securing your local network against people in say the house next door, or god forbid my sister using my net to download files without permission? :D

    Looked it up, but can't find any simplified answers, thought you guys could help...

    One more question - is the range on usb wireless dongles the same as a pcmcia card, and do they install the same, i.e no issues? I was going to get a pcmcia card for my laptop, but seeings as its a temporary measure (the laptop), and I will be getting a new one with built in wifi soon, I was then thinking a dongle might be better as I could use it in another pc...

    Here ya go bud.

    Imo, not much difference performance wise between usb and Pccard in the context of a home network. I'd go usb as well.

    One minor advantage of a USB device is that you can stick it on a 3 foot long cable, and will sometimes be able to position the actual device high or low or out the window to get a sligtly better signal if you're in a house that has "dead spots".
