god I hope Longley comes up... he's just great, I love his beard!
Yeats came up last year... and Longley didn't, so there's probably a better chance of Longley... I hope

eck im stressing now... im repeating and all the poets are different and they did them all in class last year so im stuck with trying to do them myself and its horrible....

am i taken too much of a risk>????

My god....how can you feel safe just studying 4 or 5 poets? I studied 8 for my exam and still felt inadequate!

I remember hoping Hopkins would come up.....but he didn't :(

5 is totally safe, you cant be caught out

I completely agree. Its better to know 5 poets perfectly rather than half-knowing 8 poets!

I love longley, like hes one of the few poets whose stuff doesnt smack of pretentiousness, but tbh i kinda hope yeats comes up, because you do far better if you get stuff about technique in. And theres loads to say about yeats technique-refrains, alliteration, onomatopoeia etc-whereas loingleys a bit too straightforward

bishop and longley haven't come up since 2002. yeats came up last year, along with eliot. plath came up in 2003 and 2004. i'm doing bishop, longley and hardy and hoping for the best!

Yeats has only been up last year though..

Longley was on the Sample Paper, the next year, and the next year

so it's just as likely that the could put Yeats up two years in a row..

Actually, just take a step back and think about it.

They don't have to do anything except pick four poets
They don't have to pick a female poet
They don't have to pick an Irish poet

For all we know they could be picking them from a hat every year.
    Who's going to complain..

'''OOOOooh ye didn't make a female poet question in the LC 2006 SEXISTSSS''

To which the board of education would reply

    ''SO SUE US'' :D

    /me waggles finger

I'll have you know I studied all my poets to a high standard! :p

Of course, I hardly remember any now. :( Hopkins is the only one that has really sticked. Probably because I enjoy his poetry so much......

"I caught this morning morning’s minion, king-
dom of daylight’s dauphin, dapple-dawn-drawn Falcon..". Brilliant stuff.

    he deffo wil.

They've put a number of poet's on two years in a row, so it's quite feasible Yeats will come up ;)

Hmm. I had the weirdest dream last night that told me to do Longley... I will be like.. "oooh" if he really comes up.
Regardless I am doing him over Yeats now.

I don't think that they would have a year where the two irish poets will not come up at all.

Basicallymy teacher said Hardy is an almost certainty, with Longley and Bishop the likeliest after that.
