I was looking at (another) pre-world cup documentary last week and they had one of the Argentinian commentators on who had the mike when he scored THE goal.

He said (through an interpretor) that as Diego got when into the penalty box he just started shouting Genius! Genius! Genius! until the ball went in. What a moment that must have been in a pub in Buenos Aires.

This isn't THAT commentary, but it's ****in' great.

Yeah but Team Goal with explosive finish Albertos had it all.


I would even argue that the Saudi lad who scored vs belgium was a better solo goal but it wasnt vs england in a Qtr final.

/altho he did get an oilfield for scoring it :eek:

Got to disagree Carlos was better than Diego. I know Reid, Fenwick et al were asleep but those Italians...........Jaysus. If an under-12 team had that much room they'd score a goal like that too.

Anyone remember a goal Mark Hughes scored for United against Sheffield Utd, it might have been in the cup. Hardly the greated goal ever scored but while we are on team goals that was an underated team goal.

He controls it on his laces, and volleys it across the box.
Sinclair is about ten yards out and scores a screaming volley into the top corner.
The ball didn't touch the ground from the corner until it hit the net
