    “The Volts Sessions”
    Sons of Now
[Lost] / Dummy Run / LPX

and DJ sets from Loreana Rushe and Some Cars Are Faster Than Others

The Volts Sessions is the new club night from the Electric Fix. It features the best in local and Irish indie/rock acts and is followed by DJ sets through until 3am. The debut show takes place in Eamonn Doran’s on Friday June 9th – doors are at 8.30pm and the door damage is 8 Euros (free in after 11pm).

Headlining are Sons of Now, who are a progressive indie-rock band from North Dublin. Sons of Now are influenced by a wide variety of bands and musicians such as Oasis, Bob Dylan, The Stone Roses, The La's, Kings of Leon to name but a few. Their biggest success to date was playing support to The Complete Stone Roses on their 2005 Nationwide UK and Ireland tour and to top it all, their debut single is on the cards on later this year.

Main support to them are [Lost], an alternative rock quartet based in Dublin. Formed in 2002, [Lost] have been recording and gigging actively around Ireland. The [Lost] sound is characterised by intricate four part harmonies, a strong melodic focus, and fragments of electronica, interspersed with alternative rock.

Second band on are Dummy Run combine a broad range of influences ranging from Neil Young to dEUS, Interpol to Supergrass, Jeff Buckley to Smashing Pumpkins and everywhere in between. In a conscious effort to prevent monotony, they manipulate their sound from record to record. While some of their work can be delicately melodic, they can then often surprise listeners with a sound that is much more aggressive.

Opening the night is LPX – a one-man electronic air-punching machine. Manned by Kildare-based Leigh O’Gorman, his aural assault mobile via verbal and sound sha'ttack, is known for playing abrasive and commanding shows, expect dubby sounds by way of (mount)joy Division and synth growls by way of your (f)ears.

After the show, expect lots in the way of indie, electronica, heavy rock, soft rock, cock rock, **** rock and mellow country from DJ’s Loreana Rushe and Some Cars Are Faster Than Others (Leigh O’Gorman putting in a double shift).
