Calculating download speed

    This is probably an easy one for someone out there. I'm trying to work out what the download speed is of my Xbox360. I got a replacement from MS and it seems a bit slow.

    Last night I downloaded a 237mb file in 1 hour and then an 8mb file in 8 minutes.

    Does anyone know what the adverage download speed is for this downloads ?

    Thanks
    K

    Depends on what your downloading. I usually download at full speeds but some popular downloads are slower

    I was thinking that, but isn't there some way of calculating the download speed with the figures I have ?

    237MB in 1 hour:

    237MB = 1896Mb (MB [megabytes, big B] * 8 = Mb [megabits, little b] - there's 8 bits in a byte)
    1 hour = 60 mins = 3600s

    1896/3600 = 0.52Mb/s = 532Kb/s (.52 * 1024)

    8MB in 8 mins:

    = 1MB in 1 min
    = 8Mb in 60s
    = 8192Kb in 60s
    = 136Kb in 1s
    => 136Kb/s

    Thats cool, thanks.

    I was using a 3mb connection, so I suppose the speed wasn't too bad. Probably got slower because I was watching it, you know, a watched kettle never boils. ;)
