    Non event for where?
If you dont get an event what about the next person.
Somebody will see something today, can be anywhere even down the road from you.
Lightning has to be taken seriously for protection of people and property.
If it is a non event well then the spectacular show wont be observed by most but at least no body got hit by it or someones house has not got struck.

Remember with this heat and humidity and destabilising air from the south there is a high risk of an event happening somewhere?
We cant assume on here that nothing will happen and give people the wrong idea and send them out which they could caught up in a storm.

Badly wanted rain, the grass is burning...literally did you see the gorse fire in Britas bay yesterday?

As for the thunder,I had lw radio on there for a while and theres not as much as a crackle.
Thats not a good sign, even though the sky looks thundery out there.

Could the lighting start more grass fire or forest fire around the country? The limerick Fire brigade are battle tonnes of gorse, forest and ditchfires around the Limerick county.

Yes and theres heavy echoes on the radar on that line now somewhere west of Kilkenny over Tipp.

The line stretches roughly north of Galway bay down to waterford.

The ozone was probably formed by lightning strikes. I haven't seen a warning of this type before...

The UKMO radar has some strong rainfall near Cornwall and Land's End...

Edit: the band of rain is now nearing the Irish coast

We are seeing some development now approaching Southern Ireland and England. An intensification really of what was already there.

There seems to be a shower north of me, say 2 or 3 miles, over Ballacolla or West Abbeyleix area. A quarry about a half mile away is making a bit of noise all morning so I dunno if I'll be able to make out any thunder from it.

North or slightly NW of me is the earlier described shower. Sunny here now.
Back up to 27.9c. Breeze is dying out.

Looks rather fair on all other directions. I guesstimate that my visibility is around 5 miles due to haze,
