Have a VW Polo and for some reason the water for the back windscreen is not working

Yes the watertank is full up and the front ones work ok

Would it be the lead going to it and what is the best way for a 'havent got a clue about cars' to fix it

Or is it straight to the local mechanic ?

    Cheers

can you listen out for the pump motor when you press the switch?

If it's making noise, it's working and there's a good chance the pipe has come off inside the boot door.

The nozzle may be blocked. Insert a pin/needle into it to unblock it.

The resevoir may be blocked by dirt. Insert a garden hose in it and attempt to flush the debris out over the top of the tank. (This is only really appropriate if the resevoir is in the engine compartment- I'm not familiar with the set-up in a Polo).

The Polo has 1 resevoir for both front and back.

Whip off the trim on the inside of the boot and see if the pipe is either leaking or disconnected. It's a known problem in Polos.

Further to this, check the pipe is still connected at the bottom of the tank. Can you hear the whizzing noise when you try to use it?
