What are your thoughts on this album?

I have been listening to it alot lately and I have to say it really is a great album. What hits me is its originality. I cannot think of another album that sounds even close to it. There are some awesome riffs and the drumming is great. You can say what you want about Herrera not using his full drum kit, but he makes the album with his skill on the double bass.

Some might argue that they are a poor mans Meshuggah. Technically, they are no match for Meshuggah, and lyrically they are brutal but their sound and energy puts them way ahead, IMO. There is just something about Demanufacture. Something that captured the whole atmosphere of the early to mid 90's, maybe the sort of anarchistic vibes that "Demanufacture", "New Breed" etc. send out. It really makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and the adrenaline flow through the vains.

Anyone else feel the same about this album?

tend to agree. tis a very good album indeed. one of fear factories finest moments (obsolete is also class). it's a pity they've gone so bad of late. you know something's up when you're new album has 2 covers and 2 other songs written with another person altogether

I still take it out now and again for nostalgias sake. Still makes me smile. You'd cringe at the sub-Terminator pastiches that make up the lyrics of course but then it was never going to be Desolation Row, was it?

Fantastic album, one of the highlights of the 90s.

Picked it up in HMV the morning after my debs, walking around the aisles with a a pint in one hand, and a salt cellar from Bewleys in the other. Classy. :D

Its a damn good album alright. always give it a listen every now and then, favourite song would have to be Pisschrist but New breed would be a close second. For some reason i never enjoyed it as much as Soul of a New Machine though.

There is some very good songs on it Patricide, like proper FF songs. But some of them are very very bad. Like that U2 cover.

I believe I read an article somewhere that he had originally used the full kit but all the tracks from the mics that recorded the toms etc got deleted accidently. Great album all the same!
