    Hi all
I have a Stanley Oil Range (about 7yrs old)that I use for my heating and to cook on but I want to spruce it up a bit.Is there a specific paint for use on the outside of a range or will radiator paint do? Not sure if the finish is enamel I think its metal . any thoughts?

Why don't you give Waterford Stanley a call?

    freewing,
Normally they have to be sandblasted before been re-enammled , there was a place in the old jute factory in tycor , waterford city and there is a chap somewhere around nenagh who specialises is refurbishing stanleys / agas .. if i can find the names/no's ill post them up for u later

    Thanks for the replies
I am awaiting a reply from Stanley and hopefully I can get it sorted although it sounds expensive and sandblasting sounds fairly messy but I dont really want to get rid of it just cos it looks a bit jaded
    Cheers Eric

i looked at doing this a couple of years ago for an old stanley jubilee and there was a company in waterford B+g enamelling (eddie butler ) 051352150 but they wanted loads of money and me to take the bits down to them ( i'm in donegal) they are ex stanley employees. thats who stanley put me onto.
in the end i never bothered cos it was way cheaper to buy a replacement secondhand range or not bother (mines very tatty as it spent a year in the shed when renovating).

Well I got a reply from Stanley . It seems my only option is to have a full sandblast and re-enamel job done .I doubt the budget will stretch that far so i will probably just give the range a good clean afterall it still works perfectly well but I think taking it apart will cause more problems than it would fix
    Thanks for the advice, Eric
