    Hi all,

I am a newbie to broadband and to boards.ie. So Hello!

My question is how can I cap my downloading to 1gig a day. The reason I ask this is because I got a letter from NTL recommending that I cap it as I have an allowance of 40 gig per month.

Is this normal? and is there a way of keeping a check on how much I have used in a certain period?

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks
    Tara

    Just another question

I just checked my stats page on http://192.168.100.1/CmOpConfig.asp

and this is what I got:

    Cable Modem Operation Configuration
    Network Access : Allowed
Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 3072000
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 300000
Maximum Upstream Channel Burst : 1600
Maximum Number of CPEs : 1
Modem Capability : Concatenation Enabled, Fragametation Enabled, PHS Disabled

Does this seem right to people??? Sorry for the question but I have not a clue if this seems right!!!!

For keeping an eye on you downloads you will need to download some sort of program for your PC.

As for the internal modem page there looks fine.

i find DUmeter does the job nicely for keeping track of your usage
just right click on the taskbar icon and go to totals, it'll give you a daily, weekly and monthly breakdown there.
