    well ecology is pretty much all of unit 1 so it has to come up. what do you mean by "know 3 proofs"?

    the only thing that is fixed is that:
    section A contains 6 questions, 2 from unit1 , 2 from unit2 and 2 from unit3
    sectionB is about the experiments
    sectionC contains one question on unit 1, 2 from unit 2 and 3 from unit 3

    isnt that like comparative anatomy n all?

    no i think that falls into unit 2. with "genetics + evolution". im not sure cos i never really treated the course as seperate units until last night when the panic set in:D :D

    Comparative Embryology
    Comparative Anatomy
    The Fossil Record

    are 3 proofs + know 1 in detail

    if youre up the creek i advise you to focus on units one and two. thats where most of the marks are

    they are not proofs done mind him. remember learning about evolution and u look at how different species are common?
    like all mammals have the same basic limb structure or animals all look the same when the are growing in the womb?

    just have to learn one of them off.
    you dont even have to know about the other two!

    Okay! Thanks a mil for your help! Was completely confused there for a moment!

    It doesn't help that i had the most rubbish teacher ever that never got the course covered and left out evolution and a load of other chapters! Trying to teach myself here! lol! So sorry if i ask a lot of questions or just generally seem confused!:)

    Here's what I think are guaranteed topics to come on the exam:

    * Photosynthesis
    * Immunity and Viruses
    * Nutrition
    * Genetics
    * Plant Reproduction

    Other than that, I couldn't tell you. At any rate, we shall see.

    they are NOT guaranteed. highly probable since they cover about a third of the course!

    well I was going to go down to pass last year cos I failed it all through 5th and 6th year. the first time i passed a biology exam was for the actual leaving, i got a c1..saying that last years paper was piss easy...
    I'm just aiming for a nice high b this year..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 78 ✭✭bobneedshelpnow

    if you dont mind what grade did u get last year and did u know enough going into the exam...........?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 958 ✭✭✭porn_star

    I got a C1

    Hmmm..well I guess I knew more then I thought, since I passed...but from what I can remember a lot of that paper was common knowledge, like there was basically a comprehension shoved in there and you just took the answers out of the passage...
    I saw go for it, just be sure to get as much of unit 1 and 2 studied and some plant stuff and your expierments and you'll be grand

    k not long to biology and i'm so wrecked after maths today(grrr) that i'm narrowin it down to
    • ecology
    • photosynthesis
    • hormones
    • plant reproduction
    • experiments
    • and maybe the skeleton??

    Think that'll do?

    Maybe the four other plant chapters. Instead of the skeleton do The Human Defence System. Concentrate on the ecology and enzyme experiments. Oh and the senses chapter.

    Thanks have to get off this now and start...no excuses! Cheers good luck tomor;)

    The skeleton is quite likely and don't neglect the senses. I doubt (and hope not) that plant reproduction will be there. Was there in 2004...

    actually if you look closer there are 25 experiments if you look at the internal choices.

    I hope you're right about everything you just said! I'd be on the ball then haha!
    Pity I don't have a few days to study this so I could ensure a B, I'd say I'll only scrape a C at this stage! My head is fit to explode from all the cramming :( Sooo much crap to learn! I f*ckin hate DNA and I bet that'll make an appearence, but hey what do I know?

    Look the bottom line is the Biology paper is completely unpredictable.

    There is no pattern. There is no bluffing. You either know your stuff at this stage or don't.

    :(
