Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Eircom Netopia BB Router - Login via Wireless router?

    Quick question folks -
now that I have a wireless router (Linksys WRT54G) connected to the Eircom Netopia BB router I find that I cannot login to the Netopia router...

is there a way to configure my Linksys wireless router to allow me to "pass though" to the Netopia BB modem? (and so get the Netopia config panel)?

    cheers

Linksys should prevent you from logging into the modem. What ip address does the modem have and what one does Linksys have? Prehaps they're set to the same? (192.168.1.1).

yep, the linksys prevents me from logging into the netopia router - thats my point, my question is whether there is a way to configure the linksys to allow me through to the netopia router...?

BTW, not the same ip's internally

    any suggestions appreciated..

sorry that should have read "shouldn't prevent you"

Can you ping the ip address of the modem from your laptop?

Connect directly to the Netopia and configure it to work in "bridge mode". There's no point in having two routers in place, so you configure the netopia so it's effectively just a bare modem, and then you won't need to access it's control panel (in fact, it won't have on to access).

yes, you need to connect the modem directly to the ethernet port on the pc and then enter the ip address to access it.
I have a similar setup with a zyxel 660-RU modem (192.168.23.1) connected to the phoneline on one side and a linksys WRT54GS wireless access point / router / dhcp server (192.168.23.2) on the other side which in turn is connected via wireless and ethernet to other pc's. The modem was set to bridge mode as opposed to router mode using a direct connection to a pc to configure it and then connecting it to the WAN side of the linksys. Can anybody tell me why I can't ping the modem at 192.168.23.1 when it is connected to the linksys router yet the whole setup works perfectly otherwise???? I'd still like to be able to login into the modem to fiddle with settings etc

When the modem is set up in Bridge mode, it doesn't have an IP address for you to ping. Log into your Linksys, and look at it's WAN address.

Are you saying that there is no way of pinging or accessing the modem when in bridge mode and connected directly to the Linksys?

    That would be correct.
