    Hi all,

Cheers to everyone who made it to Doran's last night for the first ever Volts Sessions - no idea when it'll be back on, but when it is I'll let you know.
On Tuesday June 20th, I'm presenting "a night on the tiles" with the Story of Hair, The Distractions plus guests.
It's only a fiver and all drinks are e3.50 after 10.30pm.
Sweet jaysus, I'm going to get hammered...

    Story of Hair
Never before have 5 individual strands of hair been combed together and genetically modified to form a band. But that my dear fans is what happened. With a spray of noise, a comb over of feedback and sat for half an hour under hot hot hair setters.

    The Distractions

The Distractions are not just another guitar band from Detroit!
The Distractions do not live together in a flat in east London!
The Distractions is not the side project of a German techno band that emerge every 8 years to release a critically acclaimed but commercially unsuccessful album!
The Distractions are a 3 piece beat combo that stand for a time when R'n'B stood for rhythm and blues (believe it or not). Taking bands that stretch all the way from the Kinks to Elvis Costello to Nirvana they've created a template that is well and truly their own.
With the melodic instinct of McCartney, the rhythm stylings of the Jam and the Police, the attitude of the Smashing Pumpkins and QOTSA, you'll find yourself getting closer to the Distractions sound!

    About the Electric Fix:
Born in April 2005, the Electric Fix is a musical collective run by Leigh O'Gorman that made its public debut on Sunday June 5th 2005 in the Boomboomroom on Parnell St.
It sees musicians, producers and media people of all shapes and sizes get together for a series of eclectic music and a bit of a knees up.

    About Leigh:
Leigh is 6'2" tall - I have dark brown hair and brown. Favourite colour is dark blue and my favourite band is the Clash.
I don't live in Dublin and in a bizarre coincidence, I know no one here. First and foremost I'm a musician who couldn't get a gig anywhere, but I've been told I'm a promoter too. I'm a qualified sound engineer, but I'm too long out of the game to really work at it.
I like Italian food. I do not like Thai or Chinese (for some reason).
I do what I do because I love music and I love to play - everything else is a bonus.
LOVE TEA (full pot with three teabags, a good bit of milk and two sugars).
Single for way too long (must sort out - haven't seen a musician pull yet...). Hates the easy life, crumbles when things get tough. Can't stand the smell of cheese...
