    Using a home connection?

Why not....but if you upload too much then you are caught with a low upload speed and a low upload speed as well as a constrictive CAP!!!

Check the terms of your connection as some of them forbid you from running servers.

Yea but what they dont know wont hurt them... tbh i would recommend ibb for a webserver i know alot of people have had probs but the upload is really worth it, since ive got it ive uploaded at least 1tb or if you have ftth you can get smart or magnet...

Typical upload speeds are too poor. Provided it is secured and an you don't exceed cap very often there is no issue.

    It could be specialist ...

But Hosting of 22G storage 200G to 400G cap and SQL, Mail, CGi, Perl etc is under $70 a year outside ireland.

I have a web server of my own, but not connected to internet. Just internal tests. I have a hosted site (in sig).

i have my own server in the US. it's just a new project im starting needs about 200GB space and tons of download... and needed decidated hosting. Bu from what i've read here i know a home server will not do. I need something with at least 20MBps download. and over 2TB transfare.

    thanks for the advice guys.

the only home server I use is the customer database server for uploading invoices and data etc.
Works pretty well as its really only a few people using it.
But tbh getting your server hosted is usually the best way as you have a good decent connection to the internet.

Aye, I have a colo server myself, costs a packet, but distributed with a couple of other people who have even moderate incomes, it's quite manageable.
