My mates CD headunit just stopped working.
We are looking for a place in Cork where it could be checked/fixed.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Could be a fuse, there's one normally located in the back of the head unit itself and then there's another located with the rest of the cars fuses, most likley one of these has just blown.

We've checked the fuse.Something more serious.
While the headunit was on,the screen started fading slowly, than the sound was gone.He turned it off,but wasn't able to turn it on back again.
The following morning the battery of the car was dead.He pulled out the CD,and it was very hot.So I guess there's a short inside the headunit.

    What kind of car?
What kind of head unit? Origonal or bought?
has the head unit been removed to check wiring?

The car is a '03 Suzuki WagonR or something like that :)
To be honest,I don't remember the brand of the headunit (some major brand,I have to ring my mate),but it's only 2-3 months old.It is still under warranty, but it was installed in Hungary, when he was at home for vacation. The orgiginal unit was pulled out,and they used the factory DIN power and speaker plugs. They added only RCA cables for the amplifier to drive a sub.

MOst older Suzukis use Panasonic stereos (the type they used to fit to the old Hilux) My guess is it'd be as well to buy another.

make sure the removable plate is clicked on properly, and that the contacts behind the plate are clean.
