Solstice Arts Centre is up and running, you just have to check it out!

    For starters:

    Wallflowering - Tall Tales
    Sat 17.06 & Sun18.06/ 8pm

This superbly colourful and quirky production features a middle-aged couple who find themselves out of step in the dance of love and marriage in 1970’s Melbourne. David Horan (Inis Theatre) and Muirne Bloomer (Coisceim Dance Company) join hands to direct this compassionate comedy celebrating the courage and beauty in the individual who dares to live his or her truth, not matter how ordinary that truth might appear.

    Admission: €14 & €16

    Absolutely Not to be Missed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a “must-see”! I confidently recommend it to anyone… a brilliant play, top class acting, professional dancers, lots of laughs, a great night! Hope to see you there…

    Delphine

    Great production…comic..caustic…magnificent performances’ The View

“Great colour and flourish” The Irish Times

    “Utterly delightful performances” Sunday Independent

“Delightful…Shirley Valentine with an edge” Sunday Tribune

“Dance and drama like a marriage made in heaven…A rare instance of wholly enjoyable popular theatre” Irish Independent

    ”Cha-cha charming……* * * * *” Metro

And our younger audience will love:

“Watch the Birdy” - Lyngo Theatre Company - Friday 23 June at 2.30pm, a lovely play that will rejoice the youngest ones before to break for the summer!

Watch the Birdy is all about an egg that doesn’t want to hatch. Why not? Is it shy, lazy? Mum can’t wait to find out, especially because winter is coming and she has to leave the forest. She asks Percy to look after Birdy until the spring but can he stop the eagle from having him for breakfast? Percy has some help in the form of Sheila the fish, Nancy the invisible spider, Polly the butterfly and Jeremy the bear. But will Birdy come out? Presented by Lyngo Theatre Company, England, this show is an absolute must for the wee ones.

    Suitable for +3 years
    Admission: €5

    I'll be there.

I hope you saw Trim Drama's amazing production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest there on the June weekend?:D ;):p

The sad thing about this forum though, is that it is in darkness most of the time:(

Yes, it was brilliant! Another proof that Amateur Dramatics can deliver to the highest standards...
But what do you mean by "darkness"?

I was drawing an analogy between a theatre when it is closed and this forum :). Things are usually very quiet here :(

Sorry to hear that... I am just new here! Let's hope this is caused by people being at the theatre rather than in front of the screen! ;)

You know me Delphine. I'll keep you guessing a bit longer. If you click ot the link to my photos (Flickr) you'll probably guess. ;)

have to agree about the darkness, but I've yet to come across an 'active' irish theatre forum, so if anyone has any suggestions...

Wallflowering is excellent, very funny. I believe they're going to make it into a film (from imdb.com), but i think it'll lose a lot in the cinema.

Yeah, what's up with that? It's hard to even find boards that have Theatre Forums let alone an active one...
For a country where there's so much in the way of the performing arts actually happening why are we so reticent about discussing it?

Went to Wallflowering in Navan. It was really good. Excellent performances, script and both funny and thought provoking. Great venue too.

Yes, I agree with all of you... Also, I am not too surprised about the lack of "theatre" people on forums as, like I said before, I believe they actually do spend more time IN the actual theatre, or reading, or socialising. I think there is only a very limited number of people who, like us, have both a taste for all things staged and an unhealthy nerdy web-habit! That said, I haven't been on the boards since my last post, which says it all about my contribution to the cyber-drama-community. The new Solstice brochure will be out soon... keep your eyes peeled and your evenings free...

Oh and, by the way, thank you for breaking my anonymity, Mr Valentia! ;)
