Does anyone know if the play 'My Name is Rachel Corrie' is coming to Dublin at any point ? I know its going to be in the Galway Arts Festival - but just curious about whether it will have a run in Dublin.

    Yes, this weekend!

    Date: 8pm, Saturday 15 March 2008
Venue: Project Arts Centre, 39 East Essex St, Temple Bar, Dublin 2.

A play that was postponed indefinitely in New York and cancelled in Canada. A true story of Rachel Corrie, a 23 year-old American, who travelled as a peace activist to the Gaza strip, where she was killed by an Israel Defence Forces Caterpillar D9 bulldozer in March 2003, while attempting to prevent a demolition of a home in a Palestinian residential area of Rafah.

Rachel was a gifted person, an idealistic humanitarian; her journals and emails from her time in Palestine have been edited by Katherine Viner and Alan Rickman, who directed the acclaimed play, "My Name is Rachel Corrie", first staged in April 2005 at the Royal Court Theatre, London. It went on to win the Theatregoers' Choice Awards for Best Director and Best New Play, as well as Best Solo Performance.

On the fifth anniversary of Rachel's death, Amnesty International in association with Fishamble: The New Play Company are pleased to present this special one-off reading of the play.

All profits will go to Amnesty International.
