What are ye keeping on next year?

    I'm hoping to keep on

    1.History
    2.German
    3.Geography
    4.Biology
    5.English
    6.Irish
    7.Maths

I was thinking of doing the LCVP except it doesn't fit in with my choices and there's no way i'm gonna give up history and geography..

I'm taking up Italian in 4th year so I may continue that on for LC.

At the moment I'm thinking of taking

    English
    Irish
    Maths
    French
    German
    Italian
    Japanese
    Chemistry
    History/Classics

I have to choose between History and Classics. History would be handiest as they do it in my school, but I'm interested in classics to, despite having not done it for JC.

    Choices, Choices...

Our school is so ****e, we don't even have 4th year we just get kicked straight into 5th year. We don't do Italian, Japanese or Classics either.
What's Classics like? I've always really been intereested and wanting to do that...

5 languages must be pretty damn confusing! ^_^

Oh If I did Classics and Japanese I'd be doing them both outside school, our school doesn't do either. I dunno if the languages would be that confusing really, Japanese is like no other language I speak so I'd not get it confused with anything. German isn't like French or Irish, so I'd say the only place where I may have some mixups would be with French and Italian, although I think studying them both would be more helpful than a hinderance as some words are similar so each one could serve to have a better understanding ov the other.

Hmmm maybe so. I'd still find it pretty damn confusing though. Languages are quite handy though and are one of those subjects that you may actually use after school.

Piste, if your school's 4th year is anything like mine, learning a language in TY isn't actually going to teach you ANYTHING.
I speak even less French than I did before TY.

I'm TY, but I think I'll do French, History, Accounting and Chemistry, as well as the cores, of course.

    Media Studies

But for 5th year and beyond I hope to do:

    English
    Maths
    Irish
    Physics
    Geography
Tech Graph (well it's gonna be called something different cos there's a new syllabus: http://www.maryhanafin.ie/december1.htm)
    French or else History

Ohno :( Well I don't see myself learning much spanish as it's just a six week course, but I have a teach-yourself-Spanish course that I'll just use to learn Spanish anyway.

Our school doesn't let us do TY despite many petitions backed by parents and teachers. We also have no choice in languages, with French being mandadory allong with Irish, Maths and Enlgish. My additional subjects:

    Physics
    Applied Maths
    History

Yeah, French in my school is compulsory to Junior Cert, but we do have other languages (they were just on at the same time as music and art!)

    I want to do:

    English (H)
    Irish (H)
    Maths (O)
    History (H)
    French (H)
    German (H/O)
    Physics (H/O)
    Music (H)
    Japanese. (H)

With German, I have to take it up, but I don't think it'll be too bad, because my cousins are German and I should be able to pick it up quick enough. So yeah, I want to do rather a lot. I have a feeling I'm going to be doing some of them outside of school depending on timetabling. It sucks, though, because I really wanted to do art...*sigh*

Twinkle, that's pretty naive about the german, you'd have to have junior cert standard german before 5th year.

And advice from the beyond, for college be sure to have a language, a science and a business studies subject, to keep all of your options open.
    I chose:
    Economics
    Physics
    French
    Geography

I do know that, I just figured I'd be able to catch up by taking a lot of grinds and going to german college during the summer. I might also be able to stay with my cousins in Germany. It's why I'm not doing Spanish. Thanks anyway though.

You're s[ot on about the science but I wouldn't be too sure about business. It isn't really a course necessity and can be learned easily.

Yeah there's no way in hell that I'm gonna do a Business subject.
