There are loads of IRC channels, all on different subjects, your mate was probably on one of them. The channel that firespinner was talking about was #boards.ie which has been closed, but #boards hasn't, and apparently all of the boardsies have moved in there instead.

Rant, I'm completely broke, and it turns out I haven't been paid yet due to a mixup, and will be paid by cheque, so I have to wait for that to clear, plus my atm card stopped working, so I'm waiting for a new one to be sent out to me, all of which means i'll be stuck at home for the next while.

I had to do that 10 times a day for a week when I was going for Arts Programme Officer.It wasn't pleasant but it was character building stuff which is important.
