on first seeing it i thought it was rubbish
    got through it fine
thought the short questions were hardish
all three expierements were fine, my key was a bit iffy though.
but i saw i'll get full marks in the first two anyways.

meh, was hardish, but i knew it would be....

    ahh..screwed for business

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,557 ✭✭✭GrumPy

    MY prediction is:

    50/100 short answer
    12/60 section b (dont ask)
    110/240 section c

    :o

    Shuuush it's still a pass! (43%)

    Dear god I hope I pass :(

    3d? Like most things then?

    I wrote globular.

But it was such a vague question reckon they'll give points for anything.

Same here I'd say I only got 10 marks for the expeiment questions. Completely made up.

    It was a lovely paper.
It will be my only A (hopefully A1).

Dont know what they were thinking with the ecology experiment though.

Absolute gift of a paper, and i managed to completely avoid ecology. Glanced at the opening paragraph of it in the book this morning and decided against it. Really nice paper. That's an A1 in the bag

hmmm thought it was an alright paper....kinda tricky in parts but reckon i did ok... I said the enzyme was flexible lol...with 3d in brackets before it...looked at my book after (for the last time HAHAHAHA!!!) and it said specific!Damn!

Oh quick q ( as i think i fu[ked up the key q) What kinda key did u do?? i didnt do one where u haf to make a big chain or nething...was like

Grows on ground in dark places | Ivy
Has prickly leaves and grows berries | Holly!

Was so elementary it was laugable...

    BUT SO HAPPY ITS OVER!!!!

    ''write short notes''
i totally missed the short part...

    half an A4 on menstrul.

still managed to do 5! ;)

"what term best decribes the shape of an enzyme" - both accurate, and not. there are so many.

the shape of an enzyme's would very much be the way its folded, which depends on active site/substrate thingy.

    so yeah, i said.. that.

:o best decribes, is open very much for interpatation.. like the lymphatiic. i hope.

I COMPLETELY AGREE!!!!!!!There were literally tears in my eyes cuz the only chapters i never learnt were the human and plant reproduction and the nervous and excretion systems...and they all came up...I think i did okay though, but i didnt like the fricking experiments either!HOW IS DRAWING A KEY AN EXPERIMENT???? and the first one was weird too. I wouldn't care if they had one weird experiment but TWO!!!Ugly ugly ugly exam but at least I never NEVER have to think about a fricking leaf again...well unless i get some weird urge!

Felt it was ok. Some bits were easy enough e.g the animal cell experiment. Some bits I cocked up .Like someone else said, I did a key for a map and not for determining an animal. How could you fit in a key on that?

Pollution was an easy question and other ecology questions I had studied. Hopefully a D2 or above.

It doesn't matter what stain you say, I'd reckon, so long as the rest of the question is accurate for that stain. I said Iodine, that was what we'd used in class.
It said an animal cell specifically though, iodine's only for plants. Better than "magnesium sulphate" or whatever I put down, I knew it begain with M...

i thought it was okayish... really really hoping for a B3. got a C2 in pre and that was a lot harder so its looking goodish. but it was a strange paper, so its hard to tell... did this **** long question on qualitive survey of animals and then realised it said quantitive! ah i just laughed... it was my 5th question so i wasnt too worried, i was just doing it cause i had the time. no biology ever again though... im so happy i could cry... and from tomorrow no more art history... awh yeah.....

Eh, no. Iodine is a stain you use when you want to see starch concentrations.

Yeah and as its an animal cell, you wont find starch, so theres no point adding starch.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,880 ✭✭✭Raphael

Ah yes, but how can you KNOW there's no starch unless you check?

Sure if you take it like that then, you could add anything, just so you could know it was or wasnt there.

Ok, maybe it was because i didn't do enough study or maybe it was because i had bad notes but....

    THAT BLOODY SUCKED!

I found it like 500 times harder than the mocks

My girlfriend was dreading the bio exam as its not her strongest point but she said it was very reasonable and not as hard as it might have been....I think the general opinion is that it was a pretty decent paper? Bad news for all you guys who already thought it was very hard as is...
