Thats actually a myth, i have been told that too by A-10 Jockeys themselves too, the recoil force is 45kN while the combined output from the A-10's engines is 80kn which means the recoil force of the gun is only about half of the total thrust of the engines which means the loss of forward speed is negligible when firing the gun so she only slows down by about 10knots, besides she would dump the whole magazine in seconds but it is true that in training they are only limited to 1-2 second bursts to avoid overheating and conserve ammunition.

The A-10 engines were initially susceptible to flameout when subjected to gases generated in the firing of the gun. When the GAU-8 is being fired, the smoke from the gun can make the engines stop, and this did occur during initial flight testing. Gun exhaust is essentially oxygen-free, and is certainly capable of causing flame-outs of gas turbines. The A-10 engines have a self sustaining combustion section. When the gun is fired the igniters come on to ensure no flame out occurs.

The 8-wheeler is a Czech 152mm "Dana" system, most recently seen being abandoned by Georgians during their recent short war with the Russians.The white, overgrown T-34 is an Egyptian mod to carry a 122mm gun.The BMP lookalike with the combined tracks / wheels arrangement was a failed entrant to the AFV competition eventually won by the standard BMP.

Some pics from recent Norwegian - Russian joint military exercise including the Norwegian frigate KNM Otto Sverdrup and the Russian destroyer RFS Severomorsk, as well as air support on both sides.

The exercise began 4 June in Bergen and ends 15 June at the Russian northern fleet's headquarters at Severomorsk. Russian fighter aircraft will also participate in this exercise.

Im sorry, what?? Are you referring to the Blackhawk at the top of this thread? The blackhawk with its front gear on the rocks? If so that looks like an Emergency Evacuation or regular pic up of troops from a Mountainside in Afghanistan.
