I'm going to throw my hat in the ring for Antrim (my birth county).

On a slightly more serious note, if the players are paying the 500 notes entry can they get sponsorship? Or will we be required to wear some other site/operators logo? I'm not being awkward, I understand that there is a possibility of some over lay being ponied up by a central sponsor but 500 notes isnt chicken feed (at least not to me!).

    DeV.

County of birth would be totally fine.

With regards individual sponsorship, all partiscipants will be provided branded shirts in their own county colours. Every player is required to wear their County colours while in the tournament, No other brands or logos will allowed.
However branded baseballcaps will be allowed but only up to (not including) final table. Also any player interviews etc will be individual opportunity to promote their own products.

Value of buy-in is the same as last year which satisfied high stakes players and qualified players on a limited bankroll.

Ok, thanks for that Fintan. Is the final table being televised or is there a reason for no caps on it? (If you had hair like mine you'd want to know too :) )

The county colours shirts, will they be branded with any thing other then the county colours? (I need to ask because if I get sponsored I can't be wearing a Boyles sports logo or I'd need to let the sponsor know that in advance, I hope you can appreciate my situation).

Yes there is a high probability this will be fully televised and transmitted by the national broadcaster as well as the the satellites.
For obvious reasons boylepoker.com have first option on this event as well as the IrishPokerAwards but they have not yet confirmed their total commitment to the idea, however whether boylepoker jump on board or not there will be a company logo as well as the County team name on the shirt. I should have full press release ready in the next 10 days.

Can we make a "Howth Head" team? I might have a chance of getting in then.

    Great format Fintan looks interesting.

Are you absolutely certain your grandmother isn't from Limerick? If not I can arrange for you to marry a Limerick woman before the deadline. Let me know.

    regards

This is a great idea...just wondering though......would it be possible that the results are known before the final table starts? If one county was so far in front they couldn't be caught, likewise for second?

    ..
The points structure will be in such a way that it is clear right through the event which County is leading.

Big D I think you missed my point (see above)? I'm wondering would it be possible that, before the final table has started, 1st, 2nd, and/or 3rd place, could already be decided??

Maybe Im being stupid but if theres a running score and you know what points are availible then yes it may be possible that the top 3 can not be caught or the final table placings change the finising places.

We have a points structure done up but we are still tweaking it. It will be published next week.

'Howth' almost ryhmes with 'Louth'. That should be enough to get you in the team.

Was just thinking that maybe it would be a good idea to have two Dublin teams, considering the amount of people that play there? Maybe a North and South Dublin team?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 636 ✭✭✭Pokerevents

Yes, this has being suggested by several people but like the Gaa championship we decided 1 team per county only. However Offaly is proving slow to fill and in the event that this County cant get a team together we will put in a second Dublin team.

I have strong Laois and Carlow links but I won't be paying €500+ to play in this game I'm afraid. :( I'd be interested in a sat.

Andy ?? and Brian Murphy (Fitz regulars who pay a lot of pokerevents bigger games the recent 3k citywest game Andy played and Brian played the previous one) and my brother are the only other Laois poker players I know if that helps Fintan.
 there gonna be a few satelites at THE BIG SLICK CLUB in CARLOW a little closer to the event ........www.bsptour.net will keep you posted

I went to college in Carlow and met some very nice Carlow ladies, does that count?

May or may not have left a legacy behind me ;)

and technically speaking the Dempseys were lords of Laois & Offaly, so I guess I qualify for them too...not that I'm stretching it here or anything :D

Officially I deny all knowledge of aforementioned legacy, there was no legacy, what are you talking about?

i want to play in this :(
Born and always lived in Dublin, parents from Laois and Kildare, and they lived in Waterford for a while, uncle from Donegal, dunno if they all count, but im available anyway !!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,897 ✭✭✭BigDragon

I live in Kildare but my family is all from Limerick and I used to work there and have played and done well in the PE event down there so offered my services to them. Kildare capts are Liam Flood and Noel Furlong so I reckon youve no chance of making the team unless youre at least 65 and have been playing 40 years.

Fintan tells me he qualifies and he wants to play for Mayo. So Tony C is in.

Paul Roper has Mayo connections and wants to play for the Mayo team... He's our secret weapon. I don't know what the feck he's going to do so what chance have the rest of yee.

And Muscles... Yes I was hoping to run a sat... But the response was so overwhelming that it hasn't been necesary. But there is still one space and I'm deciding who it goes to end of next week. So if you have any nominees let me know. I'm away the next two days on business but back on Saturday.

Do you not think it is inappropriate that you can pick any of your own family (ie: wife)? Is that not nepotism?
