Hi, i recently found out that my college (DIT) has an insurance policy for each student (fees are paid with our reg. fee at the start of the year).

So i rang up the student services person and she was unsure about everything, she said they would probly pay my hospital bill but im not entitled to any compensation.

But the DIT website says the following:

All DIT whole-time students are covered by a Personal Accident Insurance Scheme. Cover is world-wide and operates 24 hours per day, 52 weeks of the year, irrespective of whether the accident occurs on campus or elsewhere.

Substantial benefits are payable under the scheme in respect of bodily injury arising from an accident. For example, the benefit payable in the event of permanent total loss of sight or loss of one or both limbs is up to €150,000. Medical expenses in respect of an accident not involving permanent injury are covered up to €7,500.

I have found out the insurers are CIgna International, but I cant get a number for them to give them a ring and check what the story is.
Has anyone else gone through this process and whats the craic with it?
