    Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone ever regretted getting a certain tattoo done? I got a shamrock on my arm when I was 15, I loved it at the time, but now I'm planning a sleve and it doesn't fit in with the whole scheme of things. I don't fancy getting it covered 'cause it's my first and it has some sentimental values.
I always wish that someone had shown me a few tattoo magazines first and educated me on themes and designs. I've alse found that a lot of tattooists don't take the time to discuss designs with clients and make sure that they will be happy with it in years to come.

Its not really up to the tattooist to make sure you are happy with it for years to come. Its your own decision and you have to do the research. I thought about getting one for about eight months before I got one and I am doing the same at the minute before I get another. People who get "spur of the moment" usually end up regretting it.

Your first tattoo was at 15, what adult could have talked you out of it?
Maybe if you had been lucky enough to get an artist back then who said, no you're too young.
That might have saved you from yourself.

Bit annoyed at the dragon on my forearm - I felt the tattooist did a lazy job. But as I got it re inked and a full sleeve added I'm well happy. Other than that, I love the rest of my ink and always will.

No regrets 3 years later anyway but as was said before, I spent a long time planning what I was getting and cant see myself getting fed up with any of them any time soon.

Now a days your less likely to get a tatt at 15, assuming your in your 20s or older but in an ideal world a tattooist would of taken the time to see that you were young and maybe asked you if you were certain. Problem with that is personal taste. I do piercings for some people who I think it looks terrible on, the madonna being the most regular offender but the client loves it so who am I to say otherwise?

Best thing is not to rush into it, its gonna be there for the rest of you life.

I had a tattoo done when I was 16. I chose a heart with a dagger design, just a small one for my hip (so my parents wouldnt see) but the tattoo artist talked me out of it. He said it was too intricate. Sure I agreed and instead got a rose, I didnt argue because he was the expert, what was really wrong with him is that it was quarter to six in the evening and he didnt fancy doing overtime. Anyway I don't regret having the tattoo I just regret the one I got, and I hate that it has colour, it's tacky. I've gotten two more since black tribal on my lower back and black tribal on the top of my back/neck delighted with these. If tattoo removal was cheaper and less painful I probably would consider it but for now I'll just call it a teenage rebellious mistake.

oi! colour is only as tacky as the design!

ahh i was 14.. i drew up a panthers face..
the artist was ****.. im full of scarred tissue coz he over worked the area.. i dnt really care coz its one me back and i cant see it..
the only thing that bothers me is the fact that now im older (21) and the panther now looks like a big black kitten..
someday im gunna get so pissed off with it ill wirebrush it off..

I'm 18 but i'll probably wait til i'm 19 or 20 before getting the tattoo i know i want done. Its more deciding where i want it done than anything else.

no regrets, was living in australia and felt a bit irish so i got some coats of arms and then added to it last year with a celtic theme.it now covers my upper arm ans shoulder with more to be done. the fact that your shamrock has sentimental value speaks volumes, you musnt regret it too much if you dont want to cover it.

Ha ha, one of the lads had a similar experience. Got this panthers head thing on his arm but it didnt turn out too well and now 5 years later it looks like a beaver!
