Favourite Ball..

Just following up on something I mentioned earlier in my 'Whats in your bag?' post... Have used the Nike Distance ball for while now (green version rather than the red or blue - one is hard & one soft I think?) but hadn't used it for maybe three months as I was using the Pro V... I bought some good condition Pro Vs on ebay as well as a dozen brand new ones.

It's undoubtedly a fantastic ball but I've always liked the Nike ball, I seem to hit it very far... Played today and used the Nike ball for first time in a while and I absolutely positively do not give up one single yard of length, in fact I reckon I hit it as much as 15 yards further...

I'll be sticking with the €20 a dozen Nike ball permanently from now on I reckon...

Just wondering if anybody else uses this ball and if so what they think? I've heard people rave about it in the past and in the golf shop where I often buy them the chap swears they're as good a ball as the Pro V... I don't notice any difference in performance anyway - plenty of action on the greens as well. I seem to play confidently with this particular ball and that's half the battle I suppose!

And before you ask - No, I don't have an agency for Nike golf balls in Ireland or anything - I'm just a happy customer! :)

My favourite ball of all time was the Callaway rule 35 blue. I've yet to see a ball as good around the greens.

I'm currently playing the Bridgestone B-330 and can't fault them, soft, spinny and very long.

I never liked Nikes, the platinums shred to bits if you so much as point a wedge at them and the rest of the range never impressed me. I guess if it works for you, go with it. I play links golf and need the action that a soft ball gives you that no 'distance' ball ever can.

My ball of choice would definetly be the Maxfli noodle, it performs to the best ability.

nice must look into that, the Hx Tour 56 was recommended but in fairness it's €50 for a brand new dozen, crazy.

have been using the nxt tour for a year now. got sucked in by the marketing hype surrounding the pro v1 range and splashed out for some ages ago. found that, although, performance was incredible the price was just too extreme. also the durability was another issue, whereby a well struck wedge more or less rendered the ball unplayable.titliest probably have addressed this in the meantime. i believe that they are designed for use by tour professionals only (who get them free btw). they only last for about four holes if your lucky( hence the reason i don't buy them on ebay). the reason i use the nxt tour is that it's basically the prov1's technology, at a cheaper price and can last the whole round (and more to spare). excellent distance, superb control around the greens and well...it titleist!
