    hi all,
i've heard or noticed from patterns that we'll be seeing the following on the paper.....ethanoic acid, clove oil, soap, sodium thoisulfate titration, equilibrium and the winkler titration!anyone heard anything else??

Didn't the Winkler titration come up last year?

I'd tend to agree with the organice ones though.

Experiments probably will be a water of crystalisation.Maybe heat of neutalisation aswell.

-balancing a redox eqaution is likely.
    -nuclear reactions
    -Case study

    Anyone have any others?

    Winkler titration?

test for anions and equilibrium tests

    Winkler titration?

Finding dissolved oxygen in water sample.

Volatile liquid molecular mass, anyone? Bloody chemistry.

Is everyone doing the industrial chemistry/atmospheric chem. potion?

the volatile liquid came up in 2003, but there are so few decent experiments to ask questions on it could easily come up again this year.

Yeah i'm doing Ammonia/atmos chem as the option, its a doddle!!!

are you sure about that winkler experiment, it did come up last year, i hope it doesn't come up again cos theres so much stuff to remember in it!!!

yeah sorry winkler was a mistake!:( oops...anyway i'm dreading chemistry!!!anyone any good cramming tips?!

Just in general, what experiments, likely long questions etc.

well i cant say what experiments cos to be honest im doing them ALL equally as well..........
there are certain topics up every year so by covering them it wont be a bad start.....eg equalibrium and heats of reactions.....

I hate this - I hate having chemistry after this weekend! im so distracted! i just cant study!! uhh! I hate it!! HELP!!any tips for not watchin tv, avoiding going out and the internet? im so lost and I hate looking at all that I have to do! :(

I know how you feel. Couldn't go anywhere today cos I had to study chemistry though all I did was look through the definitions, test for anions and some organic stuff. At about three I was so bored I figured I'd go on the computer for half an hour to reduce my boredom. Haven't studied since.

To force yourself to study I recommend chaining your leg to the desk so that no matter how much you want to, you can't avoid your studies. Which reminds me, could someone bring me some food or water? I threw the key across the room and now I'm kinda stuck.

haha brilliant!wel stil have failed to get into the swing of things but at least im smiling now :D

does anyone know what is likely to come out of these =

    will washing soda exp come?
    test for anions?
    volatile liquid exp?
    water of crystallisation ( Na2CO3xH2O)?
    iron tablet?
    Bleach?
    Clove oil?
    Soap?

Test for anions can come up on Q3 or Q4 and sometimes theyll manage to put it in somewhere else aswell, so ur always safer knowin that anyway. Clove oil, water of crystalization and bleach seem to be cropping up in alot of predictions. Anyone else know about the rest??

I'm doing MgO manufacture. Its the only case study that still exists today.

is it possible to get away with not learning any equations eg the equilibrium rxns, electrochemistry and the oxidation/reduction rxns? oh and the tests for anions i find it impossible to learn wat goes where. i have to learn EVERYTHING and i mean EVERYTHING tomorrow and tues morn am so screwed. ive heard the water of crystallisation expt is goin to come up frm 3 different sources(not incl here)

ok i got this from a friend of a friend. This is NOT from the tute. but it seems a fairly good indication of what to cram

    q1. % H2O Na2CO3
    I2 v. S2O3
    % hypo in bleach

    q2. ethanoic acid prep
    clove oil
    heat of neutralisation
    chromatography

    q3. flame tests/anion tests
    redox rxns

    q4. various

    q5.atomic structure
    electronegativity
    VSEPRT

    q.6 organic
    heat changes/thermo+ fuels

    q7. rate of reaction
    cat converter/particle size and conc/catalyst

    q8.organic
    rxn scheme and mechanism

    q9.ph
    H20
    Acid/bases

    q10. a)equilibrium
    b)spectra
    c)stoichiometry

    q11.a) radioactivity
    b)%yield
    c)option

    hope it helps
