Seenashow campers/motorhomes seem to become ever more popular, while proper service / facilities / repairs / *knowledge* is still hard to come by ...

...anyone interested in having a little camper/motorhome subsection so we could share some hints, tricks and addresses ?

    Everybody say "aye" ....:D

hmmm ...overwhelming response so far ...:D

Seems like I'm on my own.

I would need to be pre-emptively banned, otherwise I'd fill up the forum with "stuck behind more ****ing camper vans on a bank holiday and missed such and such and such despite leaving 2 hours to spare" threads :p

I don't have one, but maybe when I have a bit more money...

Since most motorhomes are Transits/Ducatos perhaps a large/SUV/commercial vehicle forum would be of more general interest.

It's even more frustrating when you're stuck behind a ****ing campervan in a CAMPERVAN ...no chance of overtaking and everybody behind thinks that YOU are the a**hole :D:D:D

I think a motorhome section would be a great idea. The poor response is probably due to the fact that everybody is on holidays.

If it's a left hand drive one you are totally screwed - no chance. :D

Ahhh ...a 100% rise in interest in one month !!

If that isn't a reason to start a subsection ...then what is??

    :D:D:D

    ActuallY ...No !

I've never driven anything but left hand drive campers ...and done quite some overtaking.

You get less opportunities, that's true ...but keep your distance and keep peering past the left hand side of the vehicle in front ...gives you a pretty good idea of when it is safe to pull out a bit to have a closer look ..and then go.

I drove across america in a campervan, it was a 6.8ltr supercharged petrol engine. 6-8mpg :D

It was an absolute bullet, it easily did 100mph. I wasn't driving it but the guys driving it said it was faster than any car they had owned in Ireland.

It fit 6 adults aswell so it was huge.

Best vehicle ever. I'd love one of them. They are very expensive here though

We have two! as if one wouldnt do...

Both T25s. Ones an '82 1.6 aircooled. The other is an '84 1.6 diesel. Neither will break the land speed record:) We're actually trying to sell the 82 at the moment.

Its so nice to be able to get away cheaply and bring the dog.

in Ireland do you need a special license to drive one of these bad boys or will your normal full license do it

I'd love if they put a camper van on pimp my ride

Just don't get any more dogs !

Used to have a 85 1.6 turbo diesel (VW) ...until we got dog no. 3.
It was definitely getting a bit too tight for comfort then.

Now we've got a 89 Laika, based on an Iveco 35-10

Of course he insists on sleeping in the already less than roomy bed with us:rolleyes: and he isnt exactly a miniature... We are actually on the lookout for another, so alternative sleeping arrangements will have to be put in place... We'll probably end up sleeping outside in a tent:D

So, who would one have to pester (and how), if one really wanted a subsection created?

Off topic but, how much are you looking for it?

i know someone who would be very interested in one in decent condition at a good price.

The normal car licence will cover you driving one up to 3.5 tonnes. Most of them are that weight. The bigger ones you will need a C1 licence.

Not yet ...support/ interest apparently isn't quite strong enough (yet).

Add your voice to the thread in systems (see my sig)
