Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Recommend a good router

    Hi,

Anyone recommend a good router? I bought a sitecom one along with a pci card from someone here on boards and its been nothing but trouble from day one with disconnects, crappy signal, random stalls and worse. Final straw came when I upgraded the firmware (definately latest and correct firmware from the official site) and halfway through it just said "connection refused" and now it's a paperweight.

So i need a router with built in modem,so I can have it linked physically to my desktop and then use my laptop wireless.

Budget about 80-90 euro, so anyone recommend a good brand name?

    Thanks

Good brand names: Linksys, dlink, netgear
    Bad brand name: Belkin.

    Some possibles:

    Netgear DG834G

    Dlink DSL-G624

Also Linksys WAG54G but they're hard to find now.

    Thanks irlrobins.

Think I'm gonna pick up a linksys router later on today.

Out of curiosity, what is wrong with Belkin? Noticed they were a bit cheaper but decided when I'm already down one router I might as well pay the extra few quid for a decent one

They just don't perform well. I used to look after wireless network in a uni res. People with belkin card's were always having probs, as were those with no brand name cards. Anybody with Intel, linksys, dlink, etc had no probs.

If you look at tomshardware.com list of "best routers", not a single belkin on it. Dlink, netgear and linksys feature a lot. Says it all really.
