Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. I know this is ridiculous asking this at this stage, but what is the format of the papers on thursday? I didnt do music in school so i dont really get it. On the timetable it has listening core first (which im guessing is the 4 set works?) and then listening elective and i have no idea what that is. Then the composing which i know about. Can someone please tell me whats in each section?

the listening core, is your four set works and all the bits of the course.irish music, etc.
    that's on in the morning.

the listening elective, you only do if you chose to do that over doing a practical at the start of the year...

then the composing paper you have to do aswell, backing chords and a 16bar melody...
you'll probably be able to look at past papers on examinations.ie

    Listening
    1) Set works
    2) Irish Trad setcion (listening to bits of songs, talking about form etc...)
    3) Irish Trad History section (short little essay)
    4) Unseen works

Listening elective - you don't do this if you did "pure" performance for your practical. Remember that option sheet you had to fill in ages ago? The one where you indicated what you were doing for your practical?

    Composition
    1)Finish 16 bar melody
    or
2)Write 16 bar melody to given words
    or
3)Finish 16 bar melody in indicated dance style

and then you've a choice of SATB questions.

Go to examinations.ie and have a look at the paper for godsakes!

if you were doing the listenign elective you'd know about it, so just forget about it :)

in the morning, you have the listening
    -4 set works (Q1-4)
-Irish Music (Q5. listening questions first, and then the short 10mark written question)
-Aural Skills thingy - listening to say, a song from a musical, or an extract from a classical piece, or anything really, and answer questions on it

Then, afer lunch, melody & harmony
