KDFE50A12U - UK/Irish version is there a difference??

    Found one in the UK that i'm interested in buying

    wanted to make sure that it can be tuned to Irish TV stations though.

    Can anyone offer advice??

    Errr... this is a Freeview digital tuner, so would not work with Irish terrestrial tv or analogue cable. If you are using a stb (eg sky or ntl) with scart/component/hdmi out then no worries.

    Me bad! From Sony's site:
    "Please note, even if you are currently unable to receive Freeview, all out digital televisions still come with an analogue tuner meaning that they will work both before and after switchover" I really wish the Gov would get its arse in gear and start giving us the equivalent of Freeview...
    From the specs you posted Slave1 it has the vhf band so should be ok for Irish analogue tv?

    The tuner covers VHF so yes, it's suitable for Irish TV channels.
