SHAKEDOWN IS FIVE!
On Saturday June 24th at The Bowery Shakedown will celebrate its 5th birthday having provided the soundtrack to our lives every Saturday night since 2001, it’s the longest running and most successful weekly club Waterford has ever seen. It’s grown into its new home on The Mall and has seen an increase in its already astounding popularity. In a few weeks it reaches a landmark as it hits 5 years of age.

So what to expect from a club that likes to trade in the bizarre? The club that has sent collective tongues wagging over the stunts that it pulls off completely unannounced? The club that has been a home away from home for so many people for so long? The last number of years stand testament to the antics that have gone on in Shakedown and to celebrate its landmark birthday the creative heads that have put together insane and, sometimes, downright weird ideas have been hard at work. Not only are they planning the best Birthday yet, but once again they will have you walking away with that feeling of the bizarre you don’t get anywhere else.

Well what to say about Saturday night? Our 5th birthday and boy did we party. We kept everything about the night hushed up and yet again we managed to sell out The Bowery. So what was the theme for Birthday number 5? It was a birthday party as if it were for a 5 year old! Yes we had cake, rice crispie buns, jelly (Shakedown style - with vodka), Superman was serving behind the bar, the Queen of Hearts collecting tickets at the door, bart simpson on the decks (complete with skateboard) the place was covered in hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of balloons (which all but 1 managed to be burst by the end of the night!), we had face painters, clowns, breakdancers (which then turned into a dance off with some of the crowd!), bubble girl, dolls working in the box office, a cowboy on live percussion and to top it all off an incredible atmosphere. Like so many people said to me on the night “here’s to the next 5”.

Looked like a great night was had be all. I see they did not have any problems with smoking inside also:D

Yes very good night. Smoking inside? Its not allowed, so unless someone managed to get away with it. Or else are you referring to the smoke generated by the smoke machine?

i was at that class night lads fair play. well impressed with the cocktail sausages and jelly shots and the breakdancing was a nice touch. cheers to the dj for playing kings of tommorow also

he might be reffering to this pic, this girl clearly appears to be smoking as does the lad behind her....I assume it was taken outside though?
