I really want to get a portrait done but am not confident in anyone in dublin to be able to pull it off (not to be offensive)

im not getting it to commerate a family member or something its just for the artistic appeal of the image, it has to be REALLY dead on, its a black+white pic, so the shading is insane, i've not found anyone im confident could do that much detail, im in dublin but i'll literally travel anywhere to get this piece done.

at this point im thinkin i'll have to go abroad to get it done :(

anyone know of anyone whose REALLLLLY good at insane amounts of shading+detail?

Go into Zulu Tattoo, the guys in there are awesome at shading. Have a gander at their portfolios and see if you like it.

....went there, still dont think they could handle the kind of detail the piece needs, unless it looks just like the photo it wont work.

    *frets*

any other suggestions? im really in love with this pic.

Ask in Snakebite, they have the name in there of an amazing portrait artist, It's some bloke in Waterford as far as I remember, there aren't many of them. Justin in Zulu could probably do it, I've seen a Bella Lugosi and a Marilyn Manson that he's done and they were amazing.

yeah that could be it alright, if you look through that gallery he has some cool ones there alright, Beckett, Lydon, Morrisson, all immediately recognisable, which is the key with portraits.

JMD's Bodyart would be the best in my opinion.

Go into JMD's in Waterford and ask for Joe Myler (the owner). BEST portrait atrist I've seen. The man is a leg end.

    :EDIT:

Also, just checked the link to awards Joe won over the years. Portraits seams to be a bit of a common denominator you could say! lol

Na he wouldn't be picky as such, but there are really only two types of artists when it comes to portraits, those who can do them and those who cant, Justin is good enough to take anything on but he wouldn't be known as a portrait artist, to my knowledge. The portraits I have seen him do are amazing, I suppose he's just all around very good but not a portrait specialist and they tend to be.

I may be a million miles off, maybe he loves to do portraits, now that I think of it he's doing a dali on me, but with the Dali's and the Marilyn Manson stuff, i think of it more as his preferences being in that direction...I dunno
