Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Rats.

Hmm.. so what have Ireland learned over the past 3 months?

We can't compete against county opposition (yet), but we can nearly beat England!

I don't think we "nearly beat" England. England beat us quite comprehensively. The end result was an England win by 38 runs, but remember, Ireland were on 210 for eight chasing 301. There were a couple of late partnerships which made the scorecard look respectable.

When Botha was the sixth man out with the score on 135, the game was essentially over as a contest.

We won one C&G Trophy game, against a fully professional team, which is a good accomplishment. If we had gotten a few breaks, we may have won three or four games.

Remark was in jest to engender a reaction, so result! ;)

Its a bit strange that the Irish international season is winding down, only an Intercontinental Series match, and the annual MCC game. And its not July.

Do people think, that after what has happened, Ireland are ready for the World Cup?

Well one thing that we have learnt (IMO) is that Afridi and Mushtaq were a mistake. I realise Afridi helped us get that one win, but perhaps we would have been better served world cup wise by getting some more Irish players experience.

Mushtaq was just a big (and i mean big, the size of him) mistake.

Another thing we've learned is that we need Ed Joyce back (if only)
