Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

wow, linked with, jesus. You realise every player under the sun is linked with them.

Owen was leaving Newcastle, and the only other club that seemed to be interested in bidding was Liverpool, but they wouldn't pay the transfer fee.
He didn't have a club like Bayern coming out and stating publically they want him before he is even up for sale.

so unless there's clubs that publicly state they want him it means nobody wants him?

He can look to Shearer, Bergkamp and Baggio for advice on playing at the top level for a good few more seasons yet.

Ruud has stated many times in the past he intends to retire at the peak of his game. This will be his last club.
    Not a simple as that

Why not? He has options. Owen didn't.
Owen had the choice of sitting on a bench at Real Madrid, or not even on the bench, or playing for Newcastle.
Ruud has the choice of being joint 2nd choice striker depending on form, or going to another club.

When talking about RVN at this stage in his career, CL is very important. RVN is the topic of conversation, and the odds on him not playing in CL next year would be high enough. u agree?

Of course the chances are he will be at a club playing CL football next season but I certainly wouldn't discount the likes of Spurs and Newcastle.

if u think owen wasnt good enough to be real madrids first choice stiker ahead of the fat brazilian and the overpaid spaniard then your dillusional.

owen not being played by real had more to do with him not being good looking enough or not flamboyant enough for the fans or not as marketable as the other strikers

real madrid is bizzaroland ffs, good looking players with nice gell in their hair or players that can sell jerseys in japan put ass's in seats in the bernabeu. at anfield, highbury, san siro, neu camp etc its good players winning matches that draws the people, and the managers pick the teams.

Ok fair enough. He may change his mind though.

Everyone had to sit on the bench at Madrid last season. He could have dug his heals in and fought for his place. He's confident enough in his own ability to believe he can get a regular game there. The size of Newcastle's bid limited his options somewhat but I don't think he just went there cos no one else was willing to match it. There was the option of holding out til January. As for Ruud having options, Bayern may be the only "top side" that really wants him.

Now that you've had your nice rant, could you please show me where I said that? It would appear you are the one with the illusions as I never did.
I simply pointed out Owen's choices.

Sorry, that was meant to be Real Madrid.

If he left for Bayern would it be a step up or a step down?

Well this would sort a lot of problems out if it happens. Fingers crossed.

    http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=398793&CPID=23&clid=359&lid=4161&title=United+quick+in+Ronaldo+denial

Manchester United have quickly played down reports linking Cristiano Ronaldo with a summer move to Real Madrid.

The 21-year-old has only recently penned a new long-term contract at Old Trafford - but reports continue to link him with a move away from club, and particularly Madrid.

Ronaldo has now been quoted as saying he is open to a move to El Santiago Bernabeu and has even made contact with Juan Miguel Villar Mir - one of the leading candidates to win the Real presidential elections which are due later this summer.

Villar Mir followed this up by stating he was indeed in talks with the United winger.

"Manchester United know that we are talking with him," he said.

"We have gone in 'through the front door'."

United have been quick to react and are less than amused by Villar Mir's claims.

"Manchester United are astonished with Juan Miguel Villar Mir's comments," read a club statement.

"There has been no contact between Manchester United and his election team or Real Madrid, and any suggestion there has been is incorrect.

"Unfortunately these tactics seem to be a common occurrence in elections of this nature.

"Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a long-term contract with Manchester United which runs until 2010. He will be a Manchester United player next season.

"We will not be drawn further on this matter."

Ronaldo himself is currently undergoing intensive rehabilitation as he looks to regain fitness ahead of Portugal's World Cup quarter final clash with England on Saturday.

I don't think Ruud is leaving. There don't appear to be many appealing opportunities for him and I think Fergie realises he can't afford to shift another big star out - it'll be him who goes next if does.

Don't forget that if one of the other candidate's wins, that Arsene Wenger is definitely going to be on his way to Real Madrid, why would el presidente lie?

Ruud won't be in the premiership next season, unless there's a huge turn around by SAF, and he stays at manu.
