PVC Fascia/Gutter/Soffit

Hey, whats the story with getting PVC (or in fact aluminium) into a SemiDetached house? I mean do the neighbours also have to get it done or how to they join it all up? Especially the fascia/soffit piece? Thx!

My mother got it done a while back and the neighbour still has the crappy stuff thats about 20 years old, they simply joined it up and worked away.
