Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Been after a nice blazer, something to wear with Jeans on a night out or whatever. But haven't had much success in finding a nice one (that's not ridiculously expensive). Any ideas?

I'm a guy by the way.

im sorry but guys who wear blazers out in clubs and pubs are tossers in my opinion. Looks stupid. Why not wear a scarf around your neck while you're at it.

Blazers can look good on guys, but it all depends on the type. Stay away from anything in denim, or light-coloured pinstriped fabric. Ditto for anything with distressed features, patchwork, lettering.

My boyfriend has this particular one, black velvet-type fabric with light pinstripes and it's quite nice. Understated.

Wasn't asking for what peoples opinions of Blazers are, just looking for one. So keep it to yourself.

Dudara: Cheers thats alright. Where did he get it?

A gents shop here in Cork called Murfs. It's by a brand called "selected", so if you can find stockists of that, you might be in luck. He did buy it in April 2005 though.

I got a nice one last year in Debenhams, there's probably newer ones there still though. You could pick it up in the sale. Make sure it's one of the designer ones though, much better quality. On the cheaper side H&M had been stocking them - not sure if they'd have them at the moment cos it's summer.

It'll look well in the Odeon or D2, I presume that's where you'll be parading it.
No offence intended but I just think it looks pathetic

Pathetic is whinging on an internet board about other people's choice of clothing.

Let me know how you get on as I am on the hunt for one too. As for being pathetic far from it. Smart is a nicer word.

Selected is owned by Jack & Jones, you should find it in any of their shops - should have mentioned there in my earlier post. They always have them.

The one pictured a few posts above or one that looks very similar is being sold in the Jack Jones in town (Dublin) for 80 euros I think.

Hah, are they your best examples?

My opinion on blazers is that only certain people can pull it off, and those that try far outweigh those that do.

Try Next on Grafton Street, John Taylor Menswear, Baggot St or Diffney's on Mary St and in the St Stephen's Green Shopping Centre or Marks & Spencer.
Ignore the idiot's remarks regarding whether they are fashionable. It's a personal choice.
Good luck and let's know how you get on.

I think the thing to get right when buying a blazer is the length of the sleves, to short and you'll look like a nerd to long and you will look like a child. Also it helps to have broad shoulderd to pull this off also.

    Good luck on the hunt!

Try Arnotts bargain basement, they've loads

And the man's floor in Zara on Jervis street

Motion Picture and Unique are good places for pickin up cheaper casual ones

I think they only suit guy with a bigger frame, and they're a bit long for my likin, but I still wear it every now n again, I have a navy pinstripe one

Its so annoyin the way they seal the pockets! they actually have pockets, that are just sewn shut, so i opened mine n they're deadly

    So, yeah, Good luck!

    and L5, get a life!

now, I don't know much about fashion, but that looks good, where in Cork could I buy it, and for how much? (help!)

Stitching up the pockets is done to prevent things being placed in the jackets in the shops or during transit. The stitching is usually fairly loose and can be pulled out easily.

Women's skirts often come with the pleats or slits sewn too. It keeps the skirt in shape during transit.

Try Jack&Jones in Cork or Murf's near Oasis on Patrick Street.

Theres a couple of shops in the Georges Arcade that sell them, mostly second hand but in great nick. I like them cos they have the "worn in" look without being scruffy! Some similar to the first picure on the previous page, and I think at around €40

The pockets are also stitched to help the jacket keep its shape!

I've come across a few jackets in which some if not most of the outside pockets are purely ornamental.
