I was coming out of the club the last day and waiting in the queue for taxis, at 3am, but there were waay too many people to be bothered standing around. So I called up [a company - name with poster]* on the phone, and twenty minutes later a car pulls up, and I got in. I don't know if this guy had had a few himself or what, but we spent 30 minutes getting from the middle of town to Salthill! He got lost about four or five times! Whats a decent company to call up for a taxi around galway?

I've always found Big O to be good. Their number is 585858. I think they have the most cars of anyone in town.

If you're looking for one at chucking out time, best bet with any firm is to go to the offices. Otherwise you're taking your chances at the taxi ranks. No point in ringing really as they don't like doing pickups in town at busy times.

I depends what you are looking for I guess. Some companies specialise in higher class taxis, some will give you the ring to your mobile when they are outside the door, some will just let rip with the horn and wake up all the neighbours. I've had good experiences with breathing through my mouth.

Calling a cab at that time is a complete waste of time. They are already rushed off their feet and will get loads of fares just driving around.

I always thought Pro Cabs were decent until they took over Top Cabs, things went downhill then. Cara are ok too.

Nothing worse than having to walk home by yourself pished as a fart.

I usually get my cabs down west,Claddagh or Big-O (i think it is).If they are full il just walk up the road a bit and flag one coming in towards town.

I'd say pogo'ing home by yourself pished as a fart would be worse.

If one looks at the profile of the person who started the thread and the person who is answering the threads, they are promoting a taxi company that started less than 3 months ago.

I represent a taxi company that was started in 1986. Experience speaks for itself and lies eventually get found out.

My name is Damien Carrick and I am Chairman of Galway Taxis. A well established taxi company serving the people of Galway very well thank you since 1986.

Regards to all surfers that are genuine and not trying to promote a product with lies and damaging material for commercial gain!

    Thanks for that Damien.

If people want a taxi, there are loads of those spam-stickers around the place with numbers on them.

    they're good alright
    091 565900

i've been using them an average of 5 times a week for the past 16 months and i've never had any problems with them (compared to those pricks at Cara:mad:... "loike oi said deh last foive toimes loveh, it'll be out to yeh in 10 minnneh")

having said that, pro cabs seem to take longer to arrive when i'm off my chops at a house party or whatever...

I use Cara the most.. probably due to the fact that I know all the people who do the night shifts there and have never needed to wait longer than 10 minutes for a cab in my entire time using them.
