everyone has their favourite album, what's yours?

Mine has to be Wish You Were Here, it is just brilliant and The Division Bell after that

Dark Side of the Moon (I've worn out several copies in LP and CD)

I decided to listen to that in bed last night before going asleep, unreal stuff, and the album gets better the more you listen to it

Wot no Final Cut?! (actually rather good), my vote, if pushed goes to Wish You Were Here mainly for Shine on part 2 and that fantasticly cool last 4 mins as the album unwinds into a gentle breeze and gets ever so slightly funky.

For years I couldn't quite decide this. Finally now, I can.

    I'd rank them as follows

1 The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn
    2 Wish You Were Here
    3 Atom Heart Mother
4 The Dark Side Of The Moon
    5 Animals
    6 A Saucerful Of Secrets
    7 The Final Cut
    8 Meddle
    9 The Wall
    10 Obscured By Clouds
    11 Ummagumma
    12 More
    13 The Division Bell
14 A Momentary Lapse Of Reason

I'd have to say Dark Side Of The Moon.

Dark Side without a doubt, but an unusual favourite of mine is obscured by clouds, those of you that havent heard it should definately give it a try.

I love meddle but I couldn't call it my favourite Pink Floyd album because of San Tropez and Seamus. Echoes (the song) is an absolute masterpiece. I can't choose between Animals, dark side and wish you were here. What a band.

I'd have to say Dark Side Of The Moon.

Taking echoes out of it I'd go with this too. All the songs are great, and that's how you class a great album.

Echoes, being a compilation does not count.

Anyway - the songs suffer being heard out of their natural album context.

What do people think of The Early Singles disc (from the Shine On box set)?

I simply don't have a favourite, as I keep going through changing phases of wanting to hear a certain album at a certain time, be it driving or going to bed. But Darkside, The Wall and WYWH are probably the three I listen to most, with Division Bell and Animals following closely behind.

I even feel like listening to certain a certain CD from The Wall each time, whether it be a need for Goodbye Blue Sky or Nobody Home.

Simply the best band ever. I always consider myself a metal fan, and in between my Death and Sepultura CDs on my CD rack, Pink Floyd Sticks out like a sore thumb. What a band.

the caption was Best Pink Floyd Album?

Echoes does not count as an album, nor does Pulse or Relics, these are compilations.

I mean for ages I was not a huge fan of Dark Side, but once I listened to it in full, the way it was meant to be heard, I fell in love with it, it doesn't work if you listen to Pink Floyd songs at random

    Meddle

They also neglected to include "Brain Damage" in it - one of their best IMO.

Hrm, It's a struggle between The Wall, Dark Side, Animals and Wish You Were Here. As a whole, I think I'd pick Dark side.

    Animals

Title side of Atom Heart Mother opened my eyes with a jolt. Wish You Were Here is currently on my most-played list for the month. There's nothing I don't like on Dark Side but I think Meddle would be my next favourite. I don't know the rest well enough to comment.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,965 ✭✭✭✭Zulu

    Meddle.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,941 ✭✭✭pclancy

Dark side very closely followed by the wall.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,408 ✭✭✭Huggles

Wish you Were Here for me :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 267 ✭✭AdrianR

Tough question. I listen to Dark side and WYWH most often, I like the Wall as much but don't listen to it as often as it's much longer and I don't like to listen to any of the three unless I can listen to them right through. After those three I'd listen to The final cut, Animals and Meddle more or less in that order.

There's no dark side of the moon really, as a matter of fact it's all dark...

Dark Side Of The Moon is the best
    Wish You Were Here second
    The Division Bell third

but hey, they are all great
