Bocelli Cancels Concert

    Andrea Bocelli cancelled his concert in Kilkenny on Thursday evening because of a sore throat.
    The 41-year-old Italian tenor had been expected to pack Nowlan Park with 10,000 fans on Sunday.
    The decision will devestate many of the 10,000 fans who paid up to 155 euros for a ticket. A new show is now due to be held in July. The concert would also have generated hundreds of thousands of euros worth of business for local hotels and shops.
    The plucky blind singer had been due to bring an 85-piece orchestra to the city together with his regular band and a conductor.
    The man who sold 20 million records is the latest celebrity to pull out of a Kilkenny event. Last week, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern opted not to open Lyrath Estate Hotel while controversial singer Michael Jackson failed to visit the city for last Saturday's Bob Dylan concert despite many media reports to the contrary.

    shame about the Andrea Bochelli concert. seen one on tv a while back and it was pretty good
