    Hi folks,

My rugby club is looking to implement text messaging to it's members on a weekly basis, we have estimated that there will be around 1000 texts sent per month.

We are looking for a company that can provide SMSs at a discounted rate, as well as an web-based (ideally) interface that allows multiple subscriber groups (e.g. one group with all the club members, one just for the players etc), which we can add to, and select to send the messages to.

Can anyone recommend any companies? The operators themselves don't seem to offer exactly what we are looking for so I expect it will be a reseller we are looking for. This site seems to be a good start: http://communicator.clickatell.com/index.php?

    thanks in advance,

    Eoin

    Hi Eoin,

I used to work with a company based in Dublin that might be able to help you out.

    http://www.dataconversion.ie/DDirect/group.html

The link above brings you to the section of their website that deals with moblie marketing communications. I oversaw a number of projects that allowed society and club members to communicate on a mass scale and I believe that there could be an interface still available for you to be able to use.

The person that you should ask for within the company is Tara Byrne. Very professional and experienced with these kind of projects.

Tell her that Barry recommended her.

I used clickatell, they were very reliable as far as texting etc goes, but i often had hassle topping up my account with my credit card (it can take up to 24hrs) but i called them up a few times to shout at them then eventually my card was given "VIP status" and it's been hassle free since then.

They're not bad but if someone had've recommended somewhere better to me i might have switched.

I also use Clickatell to send a low volume of automated txts from a php script on my personal website (10 per week). It works great for me. Cost is around 5c per txt. They have every API known to man including email and ftp(!), making it easy to develop your own application to send your txts.

    I would highly recommend them.
