Very true. I've been a die-hard red wine drinker for many years, but have recently come to appreciate a pint or two of chilled Chardonnay or Pino Grigio on a balmy summer's evening.

Any other dry whites that you would recommend?

I'm no wine expert the only wines I buy [or have ever bought I should say] are Laurent Miquel Viognier and ahem Wallys Hut [Cheeaap] but I like them both.

    becks,miller,heineken,corona are all great beers.
I have to try some more german or belgian beer as i recently tried
a few(cant recall the names at the moment) and they were great.:)
I am not a big fan of bulmers and i do not drink any spirits cept baileys.
I have to say miller is probably the best mass commercial beer(far better than bud+ calsberg and piss like Dutch gold)

For me, as with Monkeyfudge, Midleton is the finest liquid you can savour. Pure heavenly.

Personally I find it massively overrated.

I'd take Conemara single-cask, cask-strength over it as a whiskey any day. I'd probably take Knappogue over it as a whiskey. Maybe even Redbreast or "regular" Conemara.

Then there's whisky...of which my current top runner is probably Talisker double-matured Distillers Edition. Depending on my mood, though, I might prefer either a Laphraoig or Lag.

As for the topic at hand....my favourite drink....I guess it varies. It depends what I'm in the mood for, what (if anything) I'm having with the drink, and so on and so forth.

In terms of what I'd drink (by choice) most often....ice cold water would be top of the list I guess.

Heres my drinking history so far (im only 23 :D )

Started on Smirnoff Ice @ 17 (Was popular at the time :p )
Moved on to Bulmers when I started college and stayed on til a visit to the dentist 3 yrs later
Then went on to ould Arther Guinness and for some reason I fell out with Arther and started drinkin Miller (Still drink the odd arther but not as often..).
Then I was in Galway a few wkends back and a mate of mine was big into the Tuborg, so I said Id give it a shot. Luv it!!! And as we speak Im supin a can of Bavaria.

BTW I usta knacker drink Dutch Gold when I was in first yr in college..... So Im gone full circle :D

Add to that Linden Village, bottles of white wine (round the bulmers years) and in later years (the guinness / miller years) hot whiskeys (during my exams :D) and vodka / JP and 7 up / coke. TBH be honest lets face it I drink anything with alcohol :D

BTW and any amount of shots , I drink them even tho I hate the taste of them... people keep buying them 4 me :D

i like to alternate between corona and miller and when the cash flow is extremely low i go for bavaria.

i also like whiskey and coke be it Jack Daniels, Jim beam, Jameson or Southern Comfort

when im drinking shots its usually sambucca. but id drink almost any shot

Sorry to bump this up, but i was just reading through old threads and seen this.... Southern Comfort is not a whisky! I'm often astounded by the amount of people who think this!!!

This is what I usually drink.
Guinness, Holsten Pils, Little Creatures (Pale Ale from Australia).
In fact most Pale Ales I like including one I tasted last week for the 1st time called White Shield.

Tasters in Blanch Shoppin Centre has a great range of beers from all over the world. I think the manager there said they had just over 15O different types of beers.

Oh and I like a glass of red wine every now and aagin and love the Brown Brothers "Everton" wine and their Cab Sav.

Cant beat the guinness. Later in the night i'd have a JD and coke, it tastes great AND gets you floored. And when i'm in the mood i'd have some straight JD

Had a few Erdinger Oktoberfest last night - beautiful stuff.

I'm an Erdinger fan, but this stuff is a step up - nearly as nice as the Winterbrew.

At 5.7% it does hit you a little harder than the normal stuff.

Their dunkel is very nice also, although it has less of those lovely weizen phenols

Little Creatures is a nice APA, I've only seen this in Oddbins up to now.

in the same boat as you man. just started drinking for serious at college and the best one by far is Bulmers, virtually hangover free and relatively cheap for the amount of liquid that you get compared to a shot for 5 euro!! good choice, good choice!!!!
