Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Knee-jerk reaction? He did make a couple of errors in judgement, but they did have a great tournament up until today.
No link, they're just saying it on the beeb.

Even if they had made it to the final and lost it unluckily playing well I'd still say the odds of him going would be better than 50:50.

Was just thinking about that, both went on to manage the National team, Pekerman seems to have made the team his own picking a lot of players he had managed before etc whereas Kerr bottled it and tried to be Mick McCarthy.

How different would the Irish National team look now if there was proper money, support and youth structures in place here instead of relying on British teams looking after the 15/16 year olds going over.

As good as Messi is I think it's a mistake to hang it on not bringing him on. Messi is young and ino it showed whenever he played. He constantly tried to do it all himself and be the next maradonna. Not the man to bring on in your time of need.

taking riquelme off was a huge mistake..

bye bye argies, shocking reaction to kick the guy in the gonads at the end aswell, I wonder just what was said there, must have been harsh to get a swift kick in the gonads none the less..

Thought they played brilliantly up till this game and even this game for the first 60mins, they started to turn dissapointing when riquelme left the pitch, There marking and diamond formation around the ball up till then was second to none and it started to slip afterwards.

Not surprised he left the job, think if they never won in any form he would have left, never know.. chances are he was asked to leave but done it in a more dignified manner without having to get the sack

Argentinian FA have still to accept his resignation

    more suprisingly

    http://www.thedailystar.net/2006/07/02/d60702040332.htm
Argentine football fans swallowed their disappointment at their World Cup exit on penalties but on Saturday called on coach Pekerman to stay in his post despite his stated intention to resign.

Newspapers showed polls suggesting most fans wanted Pekerman, who led the albiceleste to under-20 world titles in 1995, 1997 and 2001, to stay on -- or else for ageing veteran Carlos Bianchi to take on the post.

Pekerman, 56 and credited with the blooding of a raft of young stars, including Barcelona forward Lionel Messi, had been in the post only two years, replacing Marcelo Bielsa who, was in charge of Argentina at the last World Cup.

According to a poll in La Nacion daily, three in four people said no to the question "should Pekerman quit the national team?"

    Just 20 percent said yes.

Clarin and Ole dailies ran a similar poll with a similar result, finding 73 percent of fans backed Pekerman.

But if he is not swayed by their loyalty and steps down the fans want to see Bianchi, former coach with Boca Juniors and who recently ended an unsuccessful stint with Atletico Madrid, installed.

For Clarin, 54 percent backed Bianchi if Pekerman goes with former star Diego Maradona way behind on 12.3 percent.

Ole found that Bianchi scored a 38 percent vote ahead of 28 for Pekerman if he stays in contention.

    Maybe he'll do an Aragones...
