An International Class Track & Field meet will take place in
Dangan, Galway on the evening of 8 July 2006, hosted by
Athenry AC and sponsored by www.high5.ie & The Irish Milers
Club. Top class fields in both the Men's 1500M & 5000M as
well as the Women's 3000M have been assembled. It is
altogether possible that the very first sub-4:00 mile may be
recorded in the West as well as the setting of the European
Championships' qualification standard for the 5000M.

It is earnestly hoped that the general public, and
specifically those interested in track and field, in and
around Connaught will come and support this very welcome and
worthwhile initiative. The event will be free to spectators
    and all are very welcome.

Not only that, there are middle-distance track & field events
open to all-comers on the same evening. Truly your chance to
mix it with world-class athletes, if not in the same race but
on the same track and same evening. Entries are now being
taken for the open events, either by phone or via e-mail.
Entries to each event will be 5.

Phone: Paul McNamara at 087-9690294 or Mick Rice at
    087-2896989. E-mail: Entries@AthenryAC.com .

    Strong International Fields

Athenry Athletic Club, www.High5.ie and The Irish Milers Clubare pleased to announce strong fields for the invitational races at their co-sponsored track and field meeting scheduled for Saturday the 8th of July next. These fields are not final as organisers are still in touch with a number of other interested athletes and entries may still be accepted from qualifying runners.

In particular the organisers are interested in hearing from female runners who may wish to compete in the Invitational 3,000m race. Prize money will be awarded to the first three finishers in all of the invitational races.

Open Races – Places Still Available

In addition to the invitational races mentioned above there will also be a number of open races on the night specifically aimed at the casual or club runner and places still remain available in some of these races. There will be open mile races for men and women as well as a 5,000m for men and a 3,000m for women. No experience of racing on a track is necessary to take part and once again entries would be particularly welcome from female runners of all standards.

To enter just email your name and the event you'd like to run to entries@athenryac.com
The entry fee is 5 Euro per person per event

More information on these races will be posted on the Athenry AC and Irish Milers Club websites as it becomes available and enquiries can be made to Paul Mc Namara on +353 (087) 9690294 or Mick Rice on +353 (087) 2896989.
