    Weezer - Pinkerton
    Weezer - Blue Album
    Radiohead - OK Computer
    Nirvana - Unplugged
Smiths - Queen is Dead or Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

I'm going to cheat and include Best Ofs.

    Beatles - One
    Bowie - Best Of
    Pink Floyd - Echoes
    Flaming Lips - Yoshimi
    Radiohead - OK Computer

I should be completely insane within a year of listening to most of that non-stop!

I predict this is going to be a 20 page thread.

Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti (I prefer houses of the Holy, but this is a double)
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium (Again, because it's a double)
    Clever thinking :)

    Me:
Klaus Schulze - In Blue ( Reissue is a triple disc, so 3.5 hours of music, equivalent to five 42minutes albums :D:D:D )
    Klaus Schulze - Moonlake
Ministry - Dark Side of The Spoon
    Skinny Puppy - VIVIsectVI
The Future Sound of London - Dead Cities

    Clever thinking :)

    Well in that case:
Pansonic - Kesto (4 CD album)
Flaming Lips - Zaireeka (4 CD multicombination album)
Throbbing Gristle - TG24 (25 CD live collection)
Wolf Eyes - Asylum Style Ten (6 CD)
25 Years of Rough Trade (4 CD)

    That's 43 CDs right there

(and of course your little music system has an everlasting battery, and isn't clogged with sand)

wouldnt Zarieeka be useless with only one cd player?

    Above - Mad season
Welcome to sky Valley - Kyuss
    Dirt - Alice In Chains
    The Holy Bible - MSP
    Live Through This - Hole

    No explanations!

I realised that after I posted. I change that entry to TG+, another ten discs of Throbbing Gristle :D

On the subject of TB ive got 20 Jazzfunk greats what else would you recomend?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

20 Jazz Funk greats is probably my favourite studio album but DOA: The Third and Final Report of Throbbing Gristle is just as good. There's a best of called The Taste of TG on Mute that you can pick up quite cheaply that's not a bad place to start but for me, the real sound of TG are the live discs. There's some of them available separate to the box sets (which are a bit of an investment, especially if you only know one album).

    Greatest Hits II - Queen
    Grace - Jeff Buckley
    Romanza - Andrea Bocelli
    Cole Porter Songbook
What's the Story Morming Glory - Oasis

Boxsets is cheating, otherwise I'd invoke the Merzbox :)

Jaysus, i hope i dont get stranded on a desert island with some of you lot! :D

Id probably bring a shoite load of S Club and "Now" albums to motivate me to get my arse off the island!!

So are we all stranded on the same island fighting over the CD Player????
The Professer would tell us to use the CD's to shine on to planes passing overhead and we'd be rescued!

I don't think I could live with just 5 choices. I like music for every mood and 5 ain't enough.

    But....

Paul McCartney and Wings Venus and Mars LP
    Bonnie Raitt's greatest hits
    Aerosmith - Greatest hits
    The Temptations - best of
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - any one of their CD's

    L4L

Oh, but see? There's no room for my Lyle Lovett - Joshua Judges Ruth! What's a gal to do????:(

Double albums are a false economy, they're always inferior to single ones by the same band. Beatles - White Album, Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti and Chilli's - Stadium Arcadium are cases in point, all of the bands concerned have far better single albums.

I disagree, sure with some albums they might be better off as singles. But you get some great ones too,ie The Wall. And i couldnt disagree more about physical graffiti, its a superb album and probably zeppelins best imo.
