Does anyone know decent distance learning companies in ireland ?

OU is just far too expensive.

Another I found CMIT (dublin) claims false accreditations.

I thought it would be easy to find a good priced , reputable coarse. Am interested in learning accounts/taxes/stock keeping for small business.

Hi, why do you think the CMIT has false accreditation? The IAB is famous....

I could not find CMIT listed as one of the IAB's accredited colleges on the IAB website which is to be found at www.iab.org.uk. There were several colleges in the North of Ireland and various Pitman Training Centres scattered around Ireland in locations like Dublin, Gorey, Galway, Carlow and Ballinasloe but no CMIT. I also checked the Distance Learning liist and none of them were based in Ireland. It might be wise to double check with IAB before handing over any money.

I wrote some college by IAB to UK, and if you want, you can apply to their, tha IAB has exams in Ireland, too.
I asked FETAC about the recognize of the IAB.
I got a letter from FETAC:
    "Dear Zsuzsanna

The following qualifications issued by the International Association of Book-keepers (IAB) are listed on the UK National Database of Accredited Awards.

IAB Level 2 Certificate in Business Enterprise
IAB Level 2 Diploma in Personal Finance
IAB Level 2 Certificate in Computerised Book-keeping
IAB Level 2 Certificate in Computerised Payroll
IAB Level 2 Certificate in Manual Payroll
IAB Level 3 Diploma in Small Business Financial Management
IAB Level 2 Certificate in Book-keeping
IAB Level 3 Certificate in Book-keeping
IAB Level 3 Certificate in Computerised Payroll
IAB Level 3 Certificate in Manual Payroll
IAB Level 3 Diploma in Accounting and Advanced Book-keeping
IAB Level 3 Diploma in Computerised Book-keeping

UK Level 2 is comparable to IRL Level 4
UK Level 3 is comparable to IRL Level 5

Your award may be recognised by Irish employers if they are familiar with IAB.
FETAC may recognise your award if it is one of those listed above and should you commence studying towards a FETAC award in the same general area.

I hope that you find this information to be of value

    Regards

    Liam Carroll"

So, the IAB maybe good here. The IAB gives Certificate Level 2, or 3, or Diploma level 3.
To tell the true, I asked some agencies, none of them knows the IAB....they recommend in same area IPASS, or IATI.
    So, I chosed IPASS....
By the way, do you know the ICB? Similar the IAB...web: http://www.book-keepers.org/

Sorry, I was wrong, you are right. You can learn by distance learning of IPA, and after 1 year you can get a certificate, after 2 years a diploma.
    http://www.ipa.ie/upload/documents/UnderGraduateBrochure.pdf
    You can see here everything...

But..you get a level6 for the diploma (2 years), and of IPASS you can get (level6) at less than a year. So, the IPASS is faster. To tell the true, they are not same, the IPASS is payroll.
